The crew who just did the roof on my townhouse (12 units) banged it out in about 2 weeks and did an amazing job. I'm pretty sure most of the workers were illegal -- I don't know exactly because I wasn't in charge of hiring the company who did the job.

But you know what? I didn't see 10 Americans up there busting their asses in the hot sun for 2 weeks. I rarely saw them sitting around -- and the roof looks great.

When all of these people get booted out the country, who is going to do the jobs nobody else wants to do? If that was a crew of US born white or black guys I'm sure they'd be shooting the shit and having lunch breaks every half hour, and getting twice as much to take twice as long.

Conservatives used illegal immigration as the boogeyman destroying our country, but that's so far from the truth. Are there some bad elements sneaking across the border? Absolutely. But the large majority want to work, and they do.

On the other hand, imagine if we removed 11 million illegals in the next month. We might have a lot more jobs to go around. Then again, the housing market might crash again - millions of homes would suddenly be on the market for rent or purchase.

You're an idiot. Why do you think Americans dont do it but illegals do? Because illegals are cheap as hell. Legal Americans cannot compete with the rates illegals work for.

I can't blame anyone for trying to better their life or help their families. The problem comes with the criminal aspect of it all.

We need to make it easier for them to come to the US for jobs or education legally which will reduce the ability for the criminal aspects to control it.

There should be (more?) free trade and manufacturing zones established along the US-Mexican Border.

Mexicans and other nationals should be allowed to work at their own national minimum wages and benefit rates or better as the market demands.

We could be exporting the product to other countries. USA capital and competitive labor rates. I bought a toilet made in China a few years ago -- the shipping and breakage costs must be high. If that same toilet was made in one of these free trade and manufacturing zones the profit would go to a USA business and both US persons as well as Mexican and other nationals would have steady work and could live in Mexico near the border.

If the current immigration laws were better enforced against the employers that would help some. But the unreported and untaxed cash economy is maybe 25%? So, deporting illegal immigrants, with what due process the immigration laws require, is necessary. However, a part of the tax on unreported income should be collected with a Federal Sales Tax of 5%. The states can collect it for the federal government and take a 1% fee to use toward the expense of collection and remittance and other state governance costs. The problem is bigger than illegals working on the cheap for cash

This is better than a brain dead solution of capture and deport the Mexicans. That solves nothing because if there is work for them when they sneak back in we will just go in circles.

To add to that, if they are able to easily come here legally they can contribute to the system and not just drain it. As it is now they sneak in and then if they need a doctor they go to urgent care or the ER (which they don't pay for) and many of them have kids that they can then sign up to get welfare, food stamps, and other benefits. Meanwhile, the parent(s) are likely working under the table and paying very little or no taxes.

I live in a western society, we have the exact same media as the US, and the general culture is the same. We have had huge waves of illegals in shelters here and of a whole other breed than Mexicans. But illegals here cant get jobs very easily.

So the 3 jobs you describe that 'noone wants to do' are predominantly done by Dutch teens, housewifes and if it's the case it is being done by immigrants, they are legal.

Every fucking teen wants to make money, or are you saying they're all lazy and are happy that in the US it's apparently so easy for illegals to work those jobs?
