I am not a fan of the Apples. But I am not sure what the problem is. No more head phone jack? Cry me a river. At this point everything connects via Bluetooth anyhow.

What I would like to see, however, is a universal charging port that can be used across all cell phones and tablets.

The new iPhone 7 looks decent. I need to upgrade from my i'5 so I will go check it out when they hit the stores.

People are crying about the loss of the earphone port. Big deal! It comes with an adapter as you said so you can still use earphones.

What I wish they did though, was include their iphone earphones with the 7 like they have always done in the past. They were actually pretty good! At least you can still buy them separately for about $25 or so.

Anyway, now their are rumours that a completely new phone from Apple will be hitting the stores next fall, and may not even be called an iPhone. It's supposed to have an edge to edge or wrap-around screen like the Galaxy, and be even thinner (sheeeet!). So maybe I will just hold off 1 more year.

The reason why Apple doesn't use it, though, is because the lightning cable has 30 pins and can do more with adapters, like output to hdmi, iPod Out, etc.
You can get an adapter to charge an iPhone with USB, too.

I guess there are some devices that work that way, or with MHL or micro HDMI. Still need a special cable that goes from micro USB to HDMI, though, and you have to have the right one for your device (Standard is 5 pins, Samsung uses 11 pins, etc)..

No, the real reason is so Apple can charge you $20 for a USB cable. Meanwhile you can buy them for Android as cheap as $5.

It's same reason they are doing away with this jack. They can then charge you $20 for a adapter that plugs into the Apple mini connector.

Everything about apple = rip ff dumb people.

Samsung has had both... but i think for the 5 pin you need a separate USB power source. They sell adapters though.

(I said mini usb before, i meant micro lol)

It's no big deal really, but I understand that people like to cry about things. So there's that.

Adapters usually suck. Within the next 6 months all of the big audio houses will be rolling out headphones with lightning.

Bluetooth is fine, but it's got some issues in regards to the AirPods: easy to lose (people have a hard enough time keeping track of their phones,) yet another thing to remember to charge (people are constantly plugging their phones into whatever electric outlet they can find,) small (easy to forget, which will create annoyance)

A few months back I found out that I was hard of hearing. Got hearing aids. They connect via Bluetooth to my phone, or whatever device I like. Pretty sick.

Makes perfect sense, do away with standardized headphone jack so you are forced to use adapter and can't charge your phone while using it.. Brilliant!
