I 'died' in recovery after an operation - Nothing to report other than a very sore chest the next day...

Nope, but if you will place your head in a plastic bag and then put a rope around your neck you can have one and let us know what you find out. Over and out.

I was once murdered in a dream and I saw myself rise out of my dead body and looked down on myself for a very long time. That was freaky.

I've also been in the hospital for 25 days and 15 or those I was in and out of ICU. Not sure if I had any near death experiences though cause I was on so many pain meds that I was hallucinating that the nurses were trying to kill me and shit.

I almost drowned in an ocean on a family vacation. Rescued by a lifeguard. Very peaceful as I was going under tbh. That's how I stopped being afraid of death too.

I know one person in this thread whose ideal death would be drowning in Mexican boy piss.

In May 1996 I had a heart attack - and remained conscious as friends drove me to the emergency room. As we got close, I started to laugh. One of these guys was a paramedic and had never seen anyone laugh during a heart attack, and he asked me what was so funny. I told him. Everything was looking to be further away and all of the colors were muted, subdued, like I was looking at familiar signs and places through ginger ale. And it was easy to figure out why this was happening - we judge distance two ways, first by parallax, the angle between what each eye sees, and when that's out of range, by how much detail we see in familiar objects and the size of the image. I knew that blood was being obstructed to my optic nerve and eyes, losing the ability to see colors and to make out details, giving me a false impression of being more distant, etc. In that moment, it seemed to me like an important part of what people claim to experience in near death experiences was identified and answered without the supernatural at all - and it seemed to me funny at the time.

Strange - I laughed as well, I remember it clearly - I put it down to all the meds I was given during the operation...

I remember thinking that it was really inappropriate and tried to stop, but I just kept giggling - I passed out after that I assume.....

The drowning being the best way to go...I have never understood this. To me, that would seem particularly unpleasant. Thankfully no near death experiences for me however a tree came down on my car one time when I was in it (parked up). I was lucky - walked out of the car without a mark on me (car was written-off)

near death twice...once it was some mystery symptom I started to have trouble breathing because my throat seemed to swell inside somehow and it got so bad I thought it was the end...it was an hour of pure terror...breathing got easier after an hour...never found out what it was...second time was sepsis...my appendix ruptured and it somehow turned to sepsis and I lost so much blood inside that they could not find my vein for IV...was hallucinating and shutting down in a scary way...fell unconscious from the pain several times in the ambulance...unreal pain...could not move for a week from the stuff they pumped in to me to keep me alive LOL...both times I thought it was the end and was surprised to survive...

Years ago we were at a campground with my grandparents and my grandfather collapsed and was vital signs absent for 3-4 mins. No pulse, no breathing...nothing. He let out a final breath - death rattle as they call it.

My father managed to revive him. Color returned to his face. And a short while later as paramedics were carrying him to an ambulance, he said, "That was the strangest dream."

That's all he said at the time. He never explained the comment - even when asked about it. He later claimed he didn't remember anything at the time.
