have you got a bitcoin wallet and is it convenient for you to pay in bitcoin?

hi, I have decided to take payments for featured ads at Lust Jobs in bitcoin..

at the beginning it seemed to be a good idea, and now I'm having second thoughts... the more I talk to webmasters I know - only two said that they've got no problems with paying with bitcoin while others said that it is "pain in the arse" (literally) and suggested me to take cards as well.

The question is: have you got a bitcoin wallet and is it convenient for you to pay in bitcoin?

thank you,
Helmuts

p.s. here is my reasoning (in more details): more..

I have no problems paying in bitcoins, have done so numerous times, I have also used BTC to buy tech gear, amazon gift cards and up until today had no issues.

I'm still quite new with BTC, there's folks on this forum that are more experienced than me.

What was the reason behind those who said it's a pain in the arse?

Hi Drax and thank you for your reply,

most of my friends have never used any cryptocurrencies and simply prefer to stay away from them.

those who did describe it as "pain in the arse" said: "I had to open a wallet and 90% of them are scammers, then had to find an exchange, had to upload id, wait for a long time, transfer bitcoin to the wallet and then the link is dead... and would not take the same route if it isn't the question of life and death"..

----

what wallet do you use? .. is it easy for you to add funds to it with a card? tx

I have Multibit HD as 'the bank' on my laptop and Mycelium on my phone.

I use Circle to add funds which is a pain to setup. If you want to avoid that add funds using LocalBitcoins and pay by bank transfer which I used to do before Circle.

Now it's setup it's really easy.

Really it would be nice to get paid in btc direct to your wallet rather than getting pain in gbp and having to convert it to btc.

... just tested out Circle (ios app) last Saturday.. it would be perfect if it had a "wallet" features and the most important > scan qr code and make a payment.. sadly it doesn't. deleted the app. // airbitz looks promising though, still have to try how easy it is to bitcoin with Glidera (it is not easy to find this option for a 1st time user - found it by accident).

will check out multibit hd (haven't heard about it before).

Just take card payments.

Why do you want more aggravation - running a business is hard enough, why tie one hand behind your back.

For discussion purposes;

Why would I want to use BTC or any other alt currency?
Where is the market?

The problem with BTC is its main feature of decentralization. You think a digital coin wallet on a consumer computer is actually safe? This what you are up against.

Why use it for business?
No one who has above the table money will put $100,000+ into their coin wallet

I think of digital coins' mass market use as play money for the internet -- like porn purchases -- that is a niche that makes sense to me -- but it would need mass penetration of the market to work well.

If the credit card associations make like difficult for adult or other high-risk businesses ironically they will seed the demand and mass market

I suppose you could back it up.

Meantime, if something fucks up and you have a large amount of coin that is unregulated (loosely regulated as personal property) and uninsured. Once BTC is gone its gone -- the end -- there is no guaranteed recourse.

Besides that, Windows and Android systems are mass market targets for financial exploits.

That is why I say: play money or money people what to keep "low profile."

We are talking practicality for business use here

SEPA and ACH but there is a lot of consumer b2c resistance -- for b2b that is a perfect solution. The problem is that you are limited to the areas of these bank services. However, probably 50% of your customers may have these services available.

https://www.dwolla.com/ Dwolla can do you US ACH and bulk wire to the UK I think -- talk to them. So, now you have the USA and the Eurozone covered. If lust jobs is "escort services" you may have a problem in the USA. These services are not legal if they are just prostitution with a nice new name.

Just add the fee you pay on your sale price outside of the SEPA and ACH zones.
*Offer BTC in those areas also as an alternative payment method too -- no harm in acquiring what customers are our there to be had.

I use blockchain.info and bitcoin core wallet as a savings option. Blockchain is easy to understand and have multiple security layers for those who cares. Great for everyday transactions. To buy bitcoins you need on the other hand a BTC exchange.

Here's another thread I started back in may this year:

https://gfy.com/fucking-around-and-pr...recommend.html

My suggestion would be like someone else mentioned to work with multiple payment options, bitcoins would be a good addition to any main options on your billing page.

i'd say both. an over-all "ok this may have worked well for many but let's not go there" kinda thing.

Why not just make the option available?

If people want to use it, they will - and if they don't, they won't.

Simple as that, let the market sort it out for you. It costs nothing to accept and the effort required to begin using it is minimal these days. See how you like it, most people who try it tend to stick around.

As to why you'd want to hold Bitcoins.. well look at the price, enough said

I use coinbase when I want to buy some bitcoin. I usually transfer it to my multibit account on my PC before I use it.

Coinbase is regulated, I have heard that if you transfer straight to a Casino account they will cancel your account. I have gambled using bitcoin, I don't do that anymore. Bought gift cards using gyft. And sold some bitcoin back to coinbase.

I bought some silver once too. I can't remember who I used before, But I see JM Bullion takes bitcoin now.

Fairly convenient to pay. Just double check the bitcoin address before you send payment.

Example: You cut and paste an address and pay one guy. Then you cut and paste the next address(but you didn't hit ctrl-c hard enough so you didn't overwrite what is in your clipboard). See what I mean?

Would this Dwolla work for adult programs to pay affiliates? A lot of US problems seem to have troubles sending wires to the EU these days.

Update: Guess not. I thought they had a worldwide service.

Bitcoin is convenient for me because I 'generate' it through mining and trading, but yes, it would be an absolute pain in the ass for someone using it for the first time.

Keep it as an option for those who are comfortable with it, but don't make it the sole payment method. It would be like forcing people to buy USD in order to pay you in EUR.

@BigFurry

Crying -- what? If you made money mining or speculating in BTC -- good for you -- I could give 2 fucks -- seriously ...

Actually, Dwolla is now dealing with a Spanish bank so the EU may be a possibility as well as the USA.

The EU (SEPA Area) and the US are a big chunk of the market. ACH and SEPA have very small fees. Less than BTC processors as middlemen.

Eventually, the goal in business is to have liquid currency that is spendable in all markets. BTC is a limited use currency -- money in motion ...

What business do you operate BigFurry? Care to disclose that?
