Would there be a market for this kind of smut

I like to look at what other people do and I like to reflect on the road that the industry has travelled down. To this effect I look back smut over the years and the stuff made 30-50 years ago was far more satisfactory to make and it has greater artistic merit. Sorry even it's just my opinion but stuff produced today ranges from shit to turd.

So I'm wondering would smut sell if I was to recreate old school photography and shoot smut using period costumes, decent performers that can carry a line and put in a basic "naughty" plot.

I'm looking at this photo taken in 1912 by E. J. Bellocq is really stroakable in my opinion.

There have been sites around since the web started that have that type of content - although they are just posting actual retro stuff they find or buy. There is obviously a market for it - but I'm not sure if freshly shot content would do better than rehashing the stuff that exists??

That's the heart of the problem these days isn't it?

Long gone are the days we spent $250k and knew we would make money. Today how many producers shoot a scene for few hundred bucks and then slice off the hard edges with a half-arsed video edit only to worry if they're going to break even.

IF I decide to produce something like this I'll definitely use porn talent and film the full out smut. But I sincerely speculate that it's probably best to just push this as an art project and bury the actual fucking footage in storage. This genre would mostly likely be completely wasted in porn.

If done right, in color and in HD ( and with trimmed pussies) I could monetize it well... but by adding specific hair and MU plus costumes and period sets adds significantly to the cost. I am doing it maybe once a year ( Roman, Medieval, WW 2 and Post Apo)... If it has a story and is done well, $$$$ can be made. ( I am talking "Boardwalk" look and feel) . If it is just "suck and fuck" clips... Then you are wasting your money.

It's more about the skill of the guy behind the camera than the money spent. The people with that level of skill and in porn are thin on the ground these days. Look at lingerie or cosmetic ads. They scream this will get you laid, but in a subtle way.

I never had those skills so stuck to what I knew best, finding cute new teens and shooting them before anyone else did.

Women back then did have a bush and to request today that I model allow herself to grow out takes a few months to get it to the point of being acceptable. Those who are best at shooting hairy content run into that problem constantly - since the girl (or guy) need to "wait" a period of time for hair to grow in and for what? A few hundred or so dollars? It doesn't seem to be worth it.

Then as said - you need to get them into the "attitude" of the time. Make Up alone can't do that since there is a quality of acting to go into it. Few stylists today that you can afford can recreate that time period much less make up OR set design.

To be honest this isn't even considered "smut" these days. In fact these kind of pics are now mainstream and considered classy nude photography. I've seen this kind of pics in Vanity Fair and many mainstream European magazines as well. Actually they don't usually show the genitals but the same kind of idea.

Create story-driven erotica and you may well have something. Models in to serious fetish could be decent candidates provided they are not hairless. But even then, why not shaved. Invent a new twist...We have talent in JP who could pull it off well.

Shaving isn't that necessary unless it's hardcore which defeats the purpose. However. Basing a site on this style would be impossible, the costs make it a big loser.

Story driven erotica would be a winner. If the author can write.

Mixing videos of a model reading the story shot in B/W and a "dated" style with a location to match might very well work if the site can sell ad space.

LOL with that comment you basically made me into Marc Dorcel. I can see it now.. A 1920's drug dealer, an old speed boat and absolutely no one says anything in the videos so that I won't have to worry about language problems.

Lol you haven't seen the junk in my garage. I was buying really old film equipment back in the 60s'. But it's the question about skill that's probably driving my interest in doing something like this. I've always looked at some of those old masters and wondered if I could do similar. Considering I've got a lot less days ahead of me than I do behind me it's probably got me romanticizing again.

As for the photo,
It's the rustic feeling that holds my attention. The curves of her body are beautifully accentuated while the pose is very natural. I find that it leaves the impression of a real moment caught in time as opposed to being staged. It's very much the natural beauty of the female form of the era.

In my humble opinion one of the biggest problems with modern smut is that the poses are "forced" and direct. Therefore the finished product markets itself to a very puerile demographic in search of ever increasing vulgarities.

However from the modern pornographer's perspective I'll have to agree with your assessment of the photo.
