I always find it rather amusing, soon as people show the dumb things conservatives believe.. In this case all the fake election news that was posted on Facebook. The right wing bats then start running amok calling everything else fake news in order to try to make themselves feel ok about being duped..

It was same with Fox news. Everyone whom wasn't brainwashed with the kool-aide could see how biased and crazy Fox news was. Eventually the righties couldn't defend it anymore because it was just ridiculous so they started running around calling every other news network liberal and biased.

You guys are all the same, you run around the internet being told what you should be outraged about then show back up here raging about it. Go out side grow a garden or something for fucks sake, stop getting your news from Facebook and turn the fucking AM radio and Fox news off.

Fair enough. You are correct. I should have titled it "fake hate". Many of these types of "fake hate" stories make the mainstream news while many of the exposures of them as "fake hate" do not. This one obviously did.

Either way, the media is all too eager to jump on these claims, real or not, by certain preferred victim groups which helps to frame a narrative that is, by and large, not true.

There was a time when reporting was about reporting verifiable facts by people who held themselves to high standards, published by an entity which held itself to high standards... not just reporting made up drama because someone said something on record. There was also a time when the only people that would report randoms shit someone said as "news" was The National Enquirer.

As Denzel Washington said the other day "if you don't read the news, you're uninformed, if you do read the news, you're misinformed". That is where this country is now in terms of news and reporting and where a 24hr news cycle has taken things.

Poor reporting is not fake news.

I agree wholeheartedly that the journalistic standards in our country have gotten worse as the fight to get "The Scoop" in the 24 hour news cycle occurs but that is not make it fake news.

Fake news is made up stories being "knowingly" reported as fact.

So, while the girl's story is fake and her reporting of it on face book would qualify as fake news the media's reporting of the fact she claimed it is not fake news. Is it newsworthy? I would not think so and that is where the journalistic standards come into play.

You are being anal about what is factual... what i am saying is that there is a specific INTENT.

The problem is not that CNN worded a headline that is technically or factually correct or not, the problem is that CNN reported NON NEWS designed to incite and did so in a manner which most of the public and media will morph into an untrue event which is believed to be news and fact as it gets re-reported by other media outlets.... with no one being directly culpable.

This is the very objective of the media these days.... brushing right up against that line, pushing emotional buttons on sensitive issues, knowing EXACTLY what is going to happen and where its going to go and then when it doesn't go as planned, Michael Brown becomes "a gentle giant" and Zimmerman becomes a "white latino" and on and on it goes until there is literally no truth at all to the "news" story which is driving their ad revenue and a city is being burned to the ground.
