A military convoy that was spotted flying a Donald Trump flag near Louisville, Ky. on Sunday belongs to an East Coast-based Navy SEAL unit, according to a Navy spokesperson.

"The convoy were service members assigned to an East Coast-based Naval Special Warfare unit driving vehicles while transiting between two training locations," Lt. Jacqui Maxwell told ABC News on Monday night.

Naval Special Warfare units is the official name for the Navy's SEAL special operations teams.

Military officials are launching an investigation to determine if any misconduct occurred, ABC News reported. Regulations do not allow for unauthorized flags on an official military vehicle. Maxwell said a command inquiry has been put into motion to determine what flag was being flown at the time.

That's a BS story by the DoD.. None of these vehicles had license plates which would be required if they are registered to private groups or people and yes they did have some sort of unit id/identification on their doors it just couldn't be read/identified in the blurry video.

That alone means it's extremely likely those were "active" military issued vehicles. It's illegal for any person or group to roam the highways in un-tagged/registered vehicles.

Also another issue is those Humvees had armored doors. Those doors/windows are very expensive and I've yet to ever see a Military Humvee sold that the armored doors were left on. Not saying it hasn't happened but I've never seen it. Almost always those doors are taken off before it's sold.

This leaves 2 options...

1) The DoD doesn't know what they are talking about and have not verified all facts to do research on what unit it was(likely) or they are lying (unlikely)

2) It was a private military contractor transporting them on the highway illegally or some rogue group who managed to buy armored Humvees and is driving them illegally..

EDIt watching it again is further proof the DOD is full of shit. the very 1st & 2nd Humvee have clearly marked id numbers on the backs. 94-77575 is the Humvee with the flag.. DoD is lying or didn't fact check before claiming this..

I kind of wondered about this.... Anyone can own a real military Humvee - My neighbor next door right now has two in his driveway. (He restores them.)

In the video I couldn't see any military markings on them at all. At the very least they should say the branch and have some kind of an ID number on them.

The first one he bought was $6k, and had about 10k miles on it. He took it and stripped it out, got a few mechanical things fixed, had it painted black, new top, new seats, a few other things... And he can sell it for $20k - $25k.

Na they don't have to register plates, just have the military unit numbers on them like these in the video do. Another gun fact is City/county & govt agencies can drive around with no license plates as long as they have "applied for the plates"..

Every once in a while you will see a govt vehicle that has a little sign where the tag should be that says "tag applied for".

Now on the other hand farm vehicles don't need tags, like tractors, heavy equipment like front in loaders ect. My dad had a land clearing business when I was a kid and I used to drive his big ass front end loaders down the street before I had a drivers license..
