the problem is, that people still can´t deal with the internet.
since everybody can be "media" the written word have no substance anymore.
they do not know who they can trust and who not. they can not even see if behind a website is a big team of journalists or a one-man-show who want to publish his strange conviction or make money with banners around.

even here i saw a thread yesterday when somebody asked how to make money with fake news. And out there are really tons of fake news sites whose only reason for existence is a purely economic one.

at this point freedom of speech have to be overthought because in irresponsible hands it can lead to dramatic brainwash effects.

but also the established media should take that as a warning because of the fact that bad news leads to better editions end up in the circumstance that only bad news make the round.

I have a suggestion (which will fly right over the heads of most of you ), but unless we see a return to a environment where media of all types have some enforced editorial responsibility, then Trump is just the start of the madness.

So please take your party hats off for one moment and consider the position. Firstly it just so happens that the crazy man is a republican, but his politics are irrelevent to the point I am making. We have the first leader delivered to us in a post FB/twitter world, and it has gone very badly indeed.

So here is my suggestion, everyone has to take responsibilty for what the say, for what they publish, for what they host, and for what they post.

I want an environment where publishing an outright lie will have consequencies, whoever you are, wherever you are.

A newspaper editor has to be able to prove that they had reasonable grounds to believe that a story is true. They will take steps to verify that what they have been told is true before they run a story. If they fail in this they are open to both legal action, and also regulatory action. The same goes for adverts that they print.

So why has this principle been lost online ? Why does FB plough on making enormous sums of money without taking any responsibily for the "news" it distributes. The same applies to twitter, google, youtube etc.
Why can any lying fuck buy a $10 domain, get a cheap host, and create a fake news site ?
Why can any lying fuck declare that his truth is the real truth and the rest is fake.
Why does the mainstream media bother employing journalists and news teams, adhere to common standards, when they are being ridiculed and derided by others with no editorial responsibility whatsoever.

This is not about TRUMP.

He has benefited from the mess, but it could have been anyone.

Unless there is a movement toward an environment where the truth becomes central to any discussion, and we are are responsible for what we say, post, print, or publish. Then Trump could be the worst of our problems. Mob rule is very un pleasant, and mobs are easily manipulated by those with sinister intent. We got Trump but it could have just as easily been a Soros puppet......

Was watching this below again on Netflix and it reminds us of what the "media" used to be.

Through much of the early episodes, the editor of the nations biggest newspaper is driven by a deep sense of duty to report the truth. To do the right thing. To report all the facts as they are.

The media used to be about facts. About getting all the facts. About a complete story. About investigating. About editorial integrity. About what can and can't be published based on the facts. About ethics. About a moral obligation to society to present all the information. Reporters used to be quasi-detectives and often solved cases before police (financial crimes for example) through their investigating.

yes, this is true and the reason is that we have too many of them and everyone needs to make money.

but a true story is not easy to read or understand and we a living in the era of "precooked information" that means that people do not only want to hear the news they also want to hear what they should think about it.

many of this big media have decreased to be headline sellers.
but you do not have to forget one thing, that nearly every journalist of the bigger media has studied and learned also about ethic.
millions of this "new media" including a few 100thousand webmasters who would sell their own mother for 5 bucks did not even hear about ethic.

i usually get my information by watching tv or reading newspapers from different countries and compare them. i can even see a huge difference when i watch german TV or swiss TV.

I will tell you an example:
When that problem in Syria started there was a documentation from the German TV with some of the "rebels". And the rebels talked about freedom and human rights and fighting against dictatorship.

Obviously, this interview they gave was for a bunch of german speaking TV-stations and I saw the absolutely same on Swiss TV. But the camera guy there changed also his position to the car the "rebels" came with and it was plastered with stickers from Al Qaida and ISIS.

I mean just that "little fact" brought another view to the whole situation.

I know it is not easy to find out the truth but if you are REALLY interested in facts and try to get your information from different sources (and international sources are mostly quite good for that) you will be able to be up to date.

The issue is not whether or not he is honest or not, can be trusted or believed or not. The media is not about investigative reporting anymore and bringing the truth to light.

The media is about telling a story their readers will love and the truth now has little to do with it as facts and truth have been replaced by click bait headlines. How much have we heard about Trump/ Russia without a single "this exact thing was said to this exact person on this exact day"? I am fine with labeling him a traitor when the FACTS are there. I am not fine with perpetuating an unsubstantiated narrative with no FACTS.

You should be concerned. You were being told day in and day out that Trump would never run and loved it. You were being told day and day out that he'd never submit the paperwork and loved it. You were told day and in and day out that he'd never do the financial disclosures and loved it. You were told day in and day out that he'd never get the nomination and loved it. You were told day in and day out that he was behind in polls and loved it. You were told day in and day out that he had no path to victory and loved it. Now he's President and its obviously confusing for people who spent a year being told 24/7 he's a clown that stands no chance with a million different reasons, breakdowns and analysis on why he stands no chance. The media lied to you daily about almost every aspect of the campaign. The media downplayed everything Hillary had going on and spent its time attacking Trump. You didn't get the whole story. You got the story you wanted to hear. Thats great when it's coming from random some jerkoffs blog... its truly horrible when its coming from CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC etc etc etc etc etc.

Hating Trump is fine. Picking on his appearance and mannerisms and stupid shit he says is all fair game to me.

But ignoring the fact that our media is completely failing us on every possible level when it comes to reporting facts and reporting with honesty and integrity is not, in my view.

A reporters response to his continual reporting of fake facts "thats like calling me the N Word". How nice. No apology. No "Yeah, there's a problem". Even Brian Williams, fired for creating fake news stories is weighing in on honesty in the media and talking like there isn't an issue. Its absurd.

So please take your party hats off for one moment and consider the position. Firstly it just so happens that the crazy man is a republican, but his politics are irrelevent to the point I am making. We have the first leader delivered to us in a post FB/twitter world, and it has gone very badly indeed. So here is my suggestion, everyone has to take responsibilty for what the say, for what they publish, for what they host, and for what they post. I want an environment where publishing an outright lie will have consequencies, whoever you are, wherever you are. A newspaper editor has to be able to prove that they had reasonable grounds to believe that a story is true. They will take steps to verify that what they have been told is true before they run a story. If they fail in this they are open to both legal action, and also regulatory action. The same goes for adverts that they print. So why has this principle been lost online ? Why does FB plough on making enormous sums of money without taking any responsibily for the "news" it distributes. The same applies to twitter, google, youtube etc. Why can any lying fuck buy a $10 domain, get a cheap host, and create a fake news site ? Why can any lying fuck declare that his truth is the real truth and the rest is fake. Why does the mainstream media bother employing journalists and news teams, adhere to common standards, when they are being ridiculed and derided by others with no editorial responsibility whatsoever. This is not about TRUMP. He has benefited from the mess, but it could have been anyone. Unless there is a movement toward an environment where the truth becomes central to any discussion, and we are are responsible for what we say, post, print, or publish. Then Trump could be the worst of our problems. Mob rule is very un pleasant, and mobs are easily manipulated by those with sinister intent. We got Trump but it could have just as easily been a Soros puppet......
