The reason why Town Halls are packed lately. (CNN)
yup, the clueless snowflakes (public) out there, are filling up town halls all across the country lately....solely because CNN is giving them 24/7 attention.
"EWWWW YEAH...if we go to town halls we might be on TV....wooo hooooo" then CNN broadcasts the ones that have 'angry' protestors.... to encourage anger and mischief at the townhalls . The birdbrain public, doesn't realize their doing exactly what CNN wants them to. |

The reason people are pissed is because for the past six years the Republicans have made Obamacare out to be horrible, when the reality is it isn't. More people than ever have healthcare. People need healthcare, and for the people who need it the most it's cheap.
One woman the other day said she has a medical condition, but only pays $100 a month for her healthcare. How can that be bad? Some people complain that the cost of healthcare is going up. Um, yes. It goes up EVERY year. Always has, always will.

Yes, the people who are getting their healthcare for free or heavily subsidized (all at the EXPENSE of people like me who pay for my own) are for it. I understand that you are one of those people. You don't really pay for your Obamacare so it's all good. But for the working people who DO pay for their own health insurance 100% with no govt. subsidy (welfare)...our insurance premiums have exploded. No, my health insurance premiums didn't go up the way they have with ObamaCare. I have the same policy with BCBS since 2002. For my family of FOUR it was $498 a month in 2002. That is a $3,000 deductible per year for all of us and then insurance covers everything 100%. In 2009 over 7 years it had risen to $525 a month for the four of us. Now 8 years later with Obamacare...my NEW premium for 2017 is $1,539 a month for THREE of us (one of my daughters has grown up and got married and no longer on the policy). Rochard, you are wearing blinders if you don't realize the INSANITY of paying over $1,500 a month for fucking health insurance. That's probably way more money than you pay for your mortgage payment (if you own your house). Totally out of control and a nightmare for our society. Yes, you and the rest of the "47%" LOVE getting shit for "free". But it's not so cool to those of us paying for your health insurance at the expense of money that we could be spending on our own families. You should think about what others are having to sacrifice for you to have health insurance. |

Prescription prices and such have not just gone up under ACA; they have skyrocketed. I have one prescription, for example, which is super old generic stuff and I've used it since the 1980's. Over the years, it came down to $9 a fill as a cash patient. Not a big deal, even in a lean year. Since ACA, it is now $200 a fill. That is NOT just normal inflation, business as usual.

Part of the problem with ACA is that a lot of people think they are getting a bad deal, but someone else is getting a good one. Depending on psychology, this makes them feel either resentful or self-congratulatory. People on, for example, Medi-Cal, are participating in a program which existed before ACA and could have benefitted from better outreach. People without subsidies, like you, are being forced to buy an increasingly expensive luxury product. People getting heavily subsidized bronze plans are paying for something which is hard for them to afford and not getting much coverage. The sliding scale is set up for anyone above Medi-Cal or similar to be paying an amount which is expensive for their income. At least, people on higher metal plans are actually getting healthcare, as well as providing corporate welfare for the insurance industry and big pharma. It is not a good deal for anyone, except it may be necessary, once you factor in skyrocketing prices. Also, the idea that you think Rochard could be paying as little as $1,500 a month for a house in Calufornia really demonstrates why it it is hard for people in one part of the country to vote on fiscal things which impact people in other parts.

I liked what Trump said about it during the campaign when he looked at the camera and said they could never buy him off because he doesn't need their money.
Having said that...IF he will follow through on that is another story. I'm sure that you would probably say he won't. And me? I don't know if he will or he won't. BUT...then you have the problem of Congress. With all of the lobbyists from health care companies spending money by the hundreds of millions...it becomes a conundrum. IF Trump were to really go after this, then he could take his case to the people. Via Twitter and big rallys across the country. And if he did it "his way" and called out the Congressmen and Senators who won't vote to stop the price gouging...THEN he could impact change. Because then they would fear for their re-election (which is the name of the game to the bureaucrats in D.C.: Power). I think that would be the only way. Because otherwise, these Senators and Representatives depend on Big Pharma and the Health industry for campaign money. Last thing they want is a ton of negative ads against them in their home states funded by Big Insurance, Big Pharma, and Big Hospital Corporations. Trump could negate that by going "Full-Trump" on Twitter and at rallys. And that could persuade them that their re-election depends on changing the current situation. Other than that...I can't think of anything. Any other President would NEVER go after it because they would be too beholden to their party apparatus. Trump doesn't care. He actually campaigned AGAINST the RNC just as much as he did against the DNC. He literally is a unicorn that we haven't seen in our lifetimes as far as potential to affect real change. Now whether he does it or not is up for debate. And whether people LIKE what he does is also political debate fodder. I"m just saying...he actually COULD do something that nobody else ever could before. |

Globalize medication purchase options.
Make insurance portable by state or just replace it with the universal system most of the western world uses. Use either government controls or free market right-pricing, not the in between insurance nonsense we have now.

Just saying that one of the problems with half-assing socialism like ACA and making it based on need, rather than just taking care of everybody, is that budgets are wildly different in different parts of the country.

The biggest problem with all of the health plans is that so many people think that the President has any say whatsoever in its creation...Obama didn't, Trump won't.
Congress writes these laws...although they may take suggestions, but I guarantee you that whatever the pharm and health companies write for congress, they will pass it. If you think that the interests will be slanted towards the citizens...you are sadly mistaken. The health companies make way too much money to ever allow a president to have his say in their profits. Robbie - the reason your costs went up so much had nothing to do with ACA...it's simply a response from the health insurers using ACA as an excuse to raise your rates...I would be willing to bet that between tax reforms and the "new" health care changes, that your rates will go up again. My opinion is (if it really matters) that if you are going to charge for health care then has to be a completely free and open market...prices would be driven by demand instead of whatever the insurers want to make a profit on. And would allow employers to get out of the business completely Otherwise the only other option is a complete government owned program, however based on past history this wouldn't work out too well |

Just look at college tuitions. Same thing. Federal backed student loans? Oh hell yeah! Raise the costs! "HealthCare" is the same thing. I remember when I was younger, hardly anyone had health insurance. I simply paid out of pocket. Even for hospital stays. Always had it in the back of my mind that I MIGHT want to have catastrophic insuracne in case I caught cancer or had a bad auto wreck. But I didn't want to because I felt it would be a waste of my money to pay out $30 a month for health insurance. Back then you would have ONE insurance agent in an entire rural county in Florida where I lived. Nobody NEEDED insurance to just go to the doctor or pay for a prescription. That all started to slowly change in the 1980's when govt. "HMO's" started kicking in across the country. Still didn't NEED health insurance...but I started seeing prices rise. The prices EXPLODED with ObamaCare. And I guess if I were the owner of a pharmaceutical or a corporation that owns a chain of hospitals or owned an insurance company...yeah, I'd jump on this "endless" money gravy train and raise my prices to the roof too. |

but the point is that with this solution ALL that trump have ever said about globalism and economy would be seen as the bad idea what it actually is. the way to control that costs from the pharma is just to IMPORT them from the countries where they are 20 times cheaper. the competition makes the price ! but as trump voters want to get all back to US they also have to pay 20 times higher price on the pharma products. medical care in hospitals - also easy - let asians open hospitals in USA and you will see how the price goes down. if you have ever seen hospitals in thailand (like the bangkok hospital group) you would not want to go to a US-hospital anymore. and they are doing a GREAT job with the most modern equipment and the best medicals you can imagine. well - yes it´s a dream because not one of the trump supporters including himself understand to use the ADVANTAGES of a global market - they are just making the global market guilty for their own mistakes. |

Too true. College tuition is a perfect example of this phenomenon. Those astronomical tuitions are destroying families and putting students into insane debt. But the money isn't going to advancing education. The extra tuition $$$$$$$$$$$ go into university endowments and get plowed into Wall Street. Some politicians act like they are all about helping the little guy, but all those policies eventually turn out to be big business corporate welfare.

Our representative is whining about Trump on Twitter every day and he doesn't even accept letters from constituents about crazy real estate in his district. Some of California and its major cities' high prices can also be traced to how tax breaks are structured for developers.
