A ransomware virus is reported to be spreading aggressively around the globe, with over 50,000 computers having been targeted. The virus infects computer files and then demands money to unblock them.

An increase in activity of the malware was noticed starting from 8am CET (07:00 GMT) Friday, security software company Avast reported, adding that it "quickly escalated into a massive spreading."

In a matter of hours, over 57,000 attacks have been detected worldwide, the company said.

I just saw this on the news. It looks very, very serious.

I do not have any files on my computer that I cannot live without. If this ever happened to me and I couldn't fix it myself or get someone to fix for me, I would just buy a new computer.

Isn't Rudy Giuliani our Cybersecurity director? I hope he is prepared for this.

I blame incompetent companies that allow emails, files and websites to be opened without being whitelisted.
Someone opened an infected file which then is allowed to spread through the system. How in 2017 is this allowed to happen to big corporations? Fucking retards.
