You guys read this about the cyber attack?

So some cyber security guy was looking at the code inside this ransom ware that's hitting everyone.

He saw there was a really strange domain hidden inside the code. He checked the domain and it wasn't regestered. He decided to register the domain and by doing so it activated a hidden kill switch inside the ransom ware slowing the spread of it.

So you think the virus will continue for months now instead of days/weeks?

Before, when i work in computer service, ransomware had a system of self-destruction after some times. Often it time was 3 day or 1 week. Virus del himself from PC's who cant pay or who cant reinstall system or cant pay for computer service for they do it. But ransomware which encrypt files have not this system(self-destruction after some times), as i think it work through web admin panel. Guy who registered this domain intercepted the removal system of this virus - and now hackers cant del it.

Seriously now, the most exposed are SMB's, unlike the big shots they usually only have a basic anti virus.
The best protection is to have a back up of the important stuff, and if it's constantly changing, to back it up daily.
