I've never understood why you guys feel the need to dress up in ridiculous costumes just to ride a motorcycle. I mean when I go out on a boat I don't dress up like a pirate.

If you are talking about leather (jacket, gloves, chaps, boots), it's more a case of protection against a spill. Road burn can be extremely nasty and car drivers are typically unaware of anything outside their little bubbled cockpit when it comes to motorcycles. I never buy off the rack, the leather is thinner than I like and 90% of the time they mess up with zipper location
