How old is TOO old for boxing title fights?

This thread brought to you by the Horn-Pacquiao fight (and also the upcoming McGregor-Mayweather fight)

How old is too old?

Should likelihood of victory be the only benchmark?

That IS the current standard. Yes. But should there be another?

Of course. If 99 year old is likely to win title why should be be too old?

You are saying that the person who is most likely to win should not be allowed because he hit some age? Does not make ANY sense. Like you are the strongest in the world and most likely to win, but hit X years and suddenly ou are disqualified and second best is presented instead of you (the first one)...
No sense

There are standards. They are required to pass the medical tests for the state controlling agency and the fight also must be approved by the state.

He is raising the question of if even most likely to win fighter should be denied fight because of age.
And since we are talking about most likely to win, passing those tests is out of the question (as it is not really possible, barring special cases, to be most likely to win and not pass those test at the same time).

I'm not talking about the state stepping in and preventing someone. I'm talking about people voluntarily stopping.

Rankings-
If you're old but still top 10 you'll get big fights. So until they stop winning or health issues. Whichever comes first

So basically you are saying that you (fighter) would be number one (aka most likely to win) and still stop just because you are "too old"?

I think it is hardly possible to be too old if you are still the most likely to win (meaning you are better than all the rest of the fighters).

So "too old" and "most likely to win" can not go together. Oxymoron

Keep in mind george foreman was almost 46 when he became champ a second time. Held on to about 49 yo with a loss to briggs.

I think that the health and the boxing skills of the boxer is more relevant than the age.
