New diesel and petrol cars banned from UK roads by 2040, as Government unveils new pollution tax on drivers in busiest areas

Should be sooner. Pollution and reliance on oil is a huge problem.

Thankfully it's never going to happen in North America! I can just imagine some poor bastard in the Nunavut looking for a plug.

Hydrogen - created with wind or solar energy - and fuel cells are the solution. Also for trucks. We already have a fuel cell bus here in the city as a real world trial.

So because there's a bigger problem you ignore them all. Great attitude.

Trucks will go electric eventually.

This is the only Earth we have, there is no chance of going to a new planet. We need to look after it. Personally, I think a proper birth control program should go worldwide. We HAVE to cut down on consumption.

No. It's because China makes them for less. Look up German companies moving there.

Germany has currently the lowest unemployement rate since decades, a growing economy and everybody else is complaining about their trade surplus.

And why should companies not do business in China? It's a giant market, you would be stupid not to do business there. If there is something to complain about, then it's that China forces companies to alway have a chinese cooperation partner that keeps 51% of the joint venture. This would need to change.

And please clarify what you mean by migrants - you mean the Italiens, Spanish, Turks etc that are in Germany since the 1950ies? Or maybe the EU citizens that are free to move within EU countries just like you live in CZ and not in UK? Or the war refugees that have a granted right for asylum until the war in their home country ends? Or those that misuse this right for asylum and are currently weeded out and are being sent back?

So much for the great EU, the rest of the EU is left behind as Germany continues to dominate.

Nothing will change about China unless China is forced to change.

No, I meant all migrants. The recent millions coming from Asia and Africa.

Irt is if they want to keep the EU. So they can keeop getting workers from Czech, Poland and anywhere else. To hold down wage rises.

It's Germany's problem when the people who are entering the country go on benefits as automation takes their jobs.

It is if Greece needs more money.

Quote:
China has changed a lot already because they also need to grow their economy
As China's economy rises the rest of the First World falls or stagnates and all the extra benefits go to the top 1%

Yes, it's popular, isn't that what living in a democracy is about?

The returning rate is very low.

Quote:
Mr de Maiziere said about 55,000 migrants returned home voluntarily last year, compared with 35,000 in 2015. Another 25,000 were forcibly deported.
Good luck with the rest returning.

Now that is Germany's problem. Germany 'spent more than ?20bn on refugees in 2016' as crisis outstrips state budgets That will be an annual bill to cover housing, food, heating, education, healthcare and crime.

Because of the Schengen agreement, the migrants Merkel invited in are free to move around the EU. They went to Sweden, Denmark, France, the UK, etc. Maybe Merkel should have thought of that before inviting them in. Now those countries have the same bills to pay to look after migrants.

Well, it is becoming a problem cause not only Trump is questioning this. Germany is growing, but who pays that price... Who is profiting most from the EU?

"Germany has the world’s largest current account surplus. Germans see it as a sign of how competitive their economy is. Why does the IMF see it as a problem? In your view, what can the government do to reduce the trade surplus?"

For an economy with a rapidly aging population such as Germany’s, it is normal to run a current account surplus. But not as large as the one Germany has been running for the past several years.
Having a large and persistent surplus can be bad for a couple of reasons. First, it can be part of a global problem: if some countries run large persistent surpluses it usually means that other countries are running large persistent deficits. Deficit countries risk running up excessive debt and therefore need to adjust. To help this process, it is only fair for surplus countries to adjust as well. This is particularly the case for countries that belong to a currency union.
Germany: Spend More At Home

So Trump gets more support that is Germany is profiting too much and that there must be a new balance.

In some countries, the government give you a discount (less tax) if you buy an electric or hybride.

That way the car industry was able to profit from higher sales, while they just put some software in the car to fake greener results like in the German dieselgate scandal. That way the car industry stole billions tax money, pretending their cars where greener than they actualy where. And also put their competition behind if they played a fair game, those cars didn't get tax cuts. No wonder Trump wants to tax those German cars extra now. Also a new complot is getting to surface with german car industry cartels, German ‘car cartel’ conundrum – POLITICO

Cause there came more hybrids in Holland, they stopped the tax cuts for greener cars cause it cost the government too much and only the traditional cars would end up paying for roads.
