My Mom picked vegetables (tomatoes and cucumbers) on the family farm during the Great Depression -- it sucked -- she told that story over and over.
Luckily, there are harvest robots being developed for that work now. The migrant laborer is the real loser -- replaced by a machine. White trash will live on food stamps in the trailer park ... Technicians and engineers will make the money building the harvest machines. The 4th industrial evolution is here and Trump ain't going to stop it with promises of obsoleted vocations. |

I went to spain and visited a 100.000 acre greenhouse "sea of plastic" complex, I can not explain how much 100.000 acres is LOL the bell peppers it grows are shit and it supplies like half of europe...the veggies made inside are absolute garbage regardless of the near perfect climate and the conditions inside... veggies/fruits do not like mass grows...it is not my opinion, I have seen this time and time again...the bigger the grow, the shittier the produce... the robots you are mentioning are made by engineers who do not understand this...it looks good in a show...it looks good in a demo...but in real life it is not what they think...you will get shit fruit at higher prices and nothing more... |
