Facebook was not forthcoming with Congress

It seems Facebook is trying to play down the Russian ad buys. The ad buys they disclosed were only ad buys done with rubles. They claimed it was about 600 fake users.. Meanwhile they didnt even bother to cross check to see if those same 600 accounts also bought ads in dollars or other currencies... Much less they didnt bother to check or disclose any accounts buying with anything other than rubles.

Now to put this in perspective, during the French election there were over 500 thousand fake accounts created by Russians as attempt to sway the election process. Yet facebook rounds up only 600 from the US election that being just accounts who paid with rubles.



Yet another reason to not use facebook,. If only I could have so easily weeded out all the Rusian scammers back in the TGP days...

The Russians must have got to them. They probably have Zuckerberg in a gulag feeding him nothing burgers. It's a damn shame, those ad buys were going to stick it to Trump.

They managed to dig up 500k fake accounts when they were held to the fire during the French election. They are simply full of shit and are trying to play it off because they know Republicans are trying to bury the Russian intervention to protect Trump,.

Numbers of accounts doesn't mean shit really, more likely two totally different techniques used. Paid ad's promoting Trump I saw more in Outbrain style ads, which is what most of Rupert's conspiracy theory sites use. Ruskis probably realised why fuck around with manual spam, when you can just buy it.

Anti candidate American political ads in the previous election were big money spinners, I'd guess the vast majority were written by webmasters hoping to make a buck more than KGB spys ;)
