These battle groups are still useful against countries like North Korea, Somali. Iraq or Syria. And course they are useless against China or Russia, because a whole group can be destroyed by a single cruise missile with a tactical nuclear warhead. This is a cheap and very easy way to do with these dinosaurs from 20th century.

No it's not.

Its basically a floating airport that can move.

Lets say a plane can only fly 2,000 miles. Now the US can do bombing mission anywhere within 2,000 miles of any ocean since the airport can move.

Before that, bombing missions were limited to 2,000 miles from the nearest US airport.

Land-lock country X has been doing/saying shit? Doesn't matter. In 2 weeks, a carrier can be in the area and bomb them. That gives the US great negotiation power.

It also allows for pretty cool things like dropping SEAL teams into remote areas from a floating US base (the carrier).

The rest of the world combined don't have the same amount of carriers as the US

I'd say its a great resource for Americans. The rest of the world should avoid them -- it's not worth it for them

Jobs are a vital part of life and, if jobs go away, the populace would demand politicians to do something. The American way to do it is with the military.

Course they could work fine against stone-age countries like Somalia or Yemen, but not against Russia, China or India. They will be sunk in minutes with a minimum effort. All the mentioned countries have a lot of cheap-ass shipwreck cruise missiles that are undetectable and uninterceptable, because they fly on almost a zero attitude with an ultrasonic speed. Boom and there is no "Abraham Lincoln" with all its crew. These missiles are very cheap and extremely reliable nowadays. Sad but true.
