I suggest you try the live version (USB stick) the do a dual boot with Mint or Ubuntu - if you like what you see. Make a 100GB+ partition and try LINUX out.

I have interest in trying that out I only need the operating system for writing and editing and that's it.

Social media and all that stuff I can get on different platforms

I began in Windows 3.0 and now am on 10. No issues but I?m not on it much. Loads fairly fast, uses a lot of resources, but it works. I began using iPad when totally bedridden on my sides and back. I like it but don?t like the limitations compared to Windows. Looking at your hard drive is something I need.

The ability to upgrade ram is simple if your mb allows it. But on iPad, you buy a new one ...

If you are such a big disaster with a PC, yes then a Mac is probably better for you.

Windows 7 will be my last Windows OS, when that ends I'll probably go to Linux

What I hate the most about it is that they removed movie maker, which I used pretty often.
