Dear High Sierra users

You were right, "it just works."

Glad I didn't upgrade mine yet. Read and take serious.

Damn! I tested it out and it worked. It doesn't work on all situations though, only when the Username field isn't automatically filled with the logged in user (ie sometimes it replaces "root" with my username after pressing "login". That failed. When it doesn't replace "root" it does.)

So, yeah, I can confirm that the bug exists and is reproducible.

Does this mean people should switch to Windows or Linux or FreeBSD or ChromeOS or whatever?

Not really. It'll be patched next week most likely.

IMO, its better that mission critical software works without debugging/driver updates/etc (ie email, spreadsheets, browsers, the window manager, etc) than to worry about slight issues -- all major software has them.

On Linux, you'll never have bugs like this, especially if you stick to a LTS version but you'll have to keep on using slightly older hardware and you'll run into a lot of BS when you do something that would be simple on any other OS like stream Netflix on a TV -_- Linux seriously isn't a good personal computer OS. Its great for servers and developers and that's it.

Windows? I have a Win 7 VM on this laptop. It's OK. I think I can go back to a Windows machine but, after memorizing the OS X hotkeys, I wouldn't bother. That's a total waste of 2 weeks.

So, yeah, I'll keep with OS X.

Also, the Mac's build quality is great. I've had this laptop for 3 years come Spring and it's doing well. My Windows laptops usually fall apart/die by now. Aluminum cases last a lot longer than plastic cases!

I was real skeptical to switch to Mac back in 2008, but I did it and will never touch a windows again.

I can load 40 to 60 full res camera raw files into Photoshop and go at it. No crashes, no freeze up, no spinning beach ball of death. Back in the day on a windows machine... poof, and PS quits. As the other Mac poeple aleays say, it just works.

It?s funny when you mention plastic cases... whenever I am at best buy I touch the plastic laptops to see if I can heear that ?i am made out of plastic sound they make?. And then I always say to myself... who would want this?
