Judge upholds $130K fine for Trump supporter who refused to bake cake for couple

Stupid Trump supporters list their business

Not only did the refuse to bake a wedding cake the Trump supporters published their private info so they'd be harassed and reported them to Social Services to have their children taken away. All in the name of God. Trump supporter scumbags

----

An Oregon judge has ruled that Sweet Cakes by Melissa bakery in Portland will be forced to pay a $135,000 fine for refusing to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding, said KOIN Channel 6 on Thursday.

Aaron and Melissa Klein closed their bakery and appealed the fine ? which they paid in 2015 but which has been held by the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries since then.

"Furthermore, the judges found that the Kleins intentionally inflicted emotional harm on the Bowman-Pryors by sharing their address and contact information online and urging Christians to bombard the couple with hate mail and try to have their children taken away."

At what point in time did outright discrimination become legal? I don't care what your morals and values are or what your religion says, you cannot under any circumstances discriminate against someone because they are gay.

Imagine walking into any local business you frequent and they say "Sorry, cannot help you - you work in the adult industry and that is against my religion".

Interestingly enough, that kind of thing with the adult industry happens all the time. Remember when Bank of America (I think it was BOA at least) started close all the accounts of adult companies that used them? I remember a few checks bouncing and some issues because of this. I also remember someone (this is a while ago) rending an office in a building and then the landlord found out they were an adult company and tried to throw them out.

I personally opened a bank account at Washington Mutual and when they found out I was in the adult business they started putting holds on the checks I deposited and wouldn't allow the funds to be made available until they were certain the checks had cleared.

Everyone knows I'm heavily leaning to the liberal side, but......

I don't see how a business owner can be forced to serve anyone he doesn't want to serve -- and then be fined $130,000. The couple at the center of this situation are real assholes about the whole thing...I saw them in an interview and wondered why they would want to have a cake baked by someone who doesn't believe in gay marriage -- and could possibly think they don't even deserve to live. They're fucking idiots.

I'm all over the map when it comes to how I feel about this, but at the end of the day, in this particular case, the state has laws in place and they broke those laws.

Forcing a artist to make art they can't get into is wrong. I asked my caterers to put booze in the cupcakes when they didn't drink, but they were fine with that. I asked, if they had a problem with it, I would have gone somewhere else, forcing your life style or beliefs on others is wrong.

Let's break this situation down to the undercurrents of what's actually going on here. Then we'll understand it with a clear perspective.

If I was gay, I would not give the slightest fuck whatsoever about your ancient, antiquated, fundamentalist religious fanatic notion of marriage. A piece of paper tying me down to sex with just one person would not benefit me. It would only be an obstruction of the how I want to live my life, do what I want to do, with whoever i want to do it with, whenever I want to do it.

However, if I could take what you've always held sacred, and twist it around to serve my lifestyle. And put it in the face of religious fundamentalists, by forcing them to participate in it.... now THAT would make the idea of marriage interesting to me. If marriage is something I could use as a stepping stone to force fundamentalists to participate in my lifestyle, then all the sudden I would be gung-ho AF about marriage. I'm not interested in some fucking gay people making my gay wedding cake. I want fundamentalists Aaron and Melissa Klein making it. Even if I have to force them to do it.

But even then, forcing participation would only interesting to an extent. If forcing participation could in itself simply be another stepping stone to force fundamentalists to partake in my lifestyle, that would be extremely interesting to me. Because now I've basically destroyed who that person was, destroyed their lifestyle, destroyed their entire history. Religious fundamentalist fanatics can't really pride themselves on being religious fundamentalist fanatics anymore if they're partaking in the gay lifestyle.

And so, when all is said and done, I've successfully destroyed who they thought they were, and assimilated them into my lifestyle. And LOL it all started with taking one of their silly antiquated traditions and twisting it around to serve my lifestyle.

Its not going to be over when those people get their damn cake. Just like it wasn't over when the supreme court ruled that gay marriage was legal. It'll just be another stepping stone for the next stepping stone. Not saying its right, not saying its wrong. Its just what's actually being played out here, in my opinion.

How the hell do you know how you would feel if you were gay and why do you think gay people feel different than you about topics like marriage?

Better yet, do all gay people feel the same way about everything? I am relatively confident all straight people don't feel the same way about marriage.

You should have read the article , you clearly did not

The "religious freak couple" was fined for publicly publishing the couples private name & address & phone number for people to stalk and harass them because of their sexual orientation.

They were also fined for calling social services and making a false report on the Gay couple. So the "Godly couple" did ungodly evil illegal things in the name of god .. imagine that and they paid $130k fines for doing so 😁

Let me start off here by saying I don't give a fuck about homosexuals. If they want to be gay, they can be gay - I really don't care as long as they don't act like degenerates (ie pride parades with guys dressed up in BDSM gear waving dildos in front of children).

In regards to your comment - Banks close accounts because people do business in adult all the time - there's probably dozens of threads about it on this very forum? Muslim cashiers are allowed to not sell you alcohol based on religious grounds as well. Why are these not discrimination and why aren't people getting giant paydays from these?

To me it's absolutely sick that someone can be fined that kind of money for not baking a fucking cake for someone. As far as I know the attack and personal info on the lesbian couple came AFTER they tried to sue for the cake thing so exactly what losses did the lesbian couple experience at that stage? 5 minutes of butt-hurt and having to drive to another bakery is worth $135k? That's over 2,5x the median yearly household income for Oregon. Am I to understand that the two of them were curled up crying in the fetal position for 2,5 years and were unable to work or?

They were not fined for not baking a cake.

They were also fined for calling social services and making a false report on the Gay couple. So the "Godly couple" did ungodly evil ILLEGAL things in the name of god .. imagine that :-) and they paid $130k fines for doing so 😁

I don't know then, every site i've read is basically saying they are fined for not baking a cake. As for illegal things - ungodly and illegal are two separate concepts. I can light up a joint - It's illegal, but it doesn't make me ungodly.

"Furthermore, the judges found that the Kleins intentionally inflicted emotional harm on the Bowman-Pryors by sharing their address and contact information online and urging Christians to bombard the couple with hate mail and try to have their children taken away."

The fine is for intentionally causing emotional harm by harrassing them, publishing their private info, and encouraging others to harass them.

The whole baking the cake thing is stupid. If I asked someone to bake a cake and they don't want to the last thing I'm going to do is force them to because I know they're going to shit in, spit in, put bugs in, bugers snot or cum in that cake. Fuck that

Homosexuality isn't a "lifestyle" it's how you are born.

Don't force your lifestyle on everyone else.

The constitution affords all Americans equal rights you are nothing special or superior to anyone else.

I see this going the way of the Hobby Lobby ruling. The supreme court will give either a speech exemption or a religious exemption to cake owners.
