Is high unemployment a thing of the past?

Looking at demographics looking forward, we will lack workers until 2200. I think our economic models of growth, unemployment and recessions are going to be backwards for a bit.

There are tons of jobs we are on the verge of losing due to automation.. It will start taking the lower paying jobs like its already doing with Wal-Mart and McDonald's cashier's, but its going to move up into truck drivers, bank tellers, walstreet traders.. Even doctors will not be safe as we will see technology takeaway the need to actually go visit a doctor when you can just face time with a registered nurse..

We as a people, not just the US are on the verge of a massive job loss world wide..

This is true and exactly why we need to cut off immigration to floor sweepers and strawberry pickers.

Unemployment drops and rises due to large number of economic factors. We are getting close to what is called "full employment", although we have seen unemployment numbers as low as 2% if I recall correctly. The next time we have a recession the numbers will climb back up. Hopefully that won't happen for a long time.

Real unemployment is high and getting higher. Automation and Globalisation are the key factors. Add mass migration and the future is going to be tough for all but the elite and those offering a personal service to the elite. From hookers to waitresses will be fine. But wages will be low.

This isn't a prediction, it's happening.

Extra demand is nothing for a machine to handle. A machine in China can supply most of your needs, except a wage packet.

A lot of those jobs are at starving wages, so the stats do not represent a true figure
