Holy shit, can you believe they found those kids stuck in the cave alive?

https://www.cnn.com/world/live-news/...01d9e0d3577356

They've been in there 10 days trapped by water. 2 divers got electrocuted trying to save them (both lived I think) but I thought for sure if they ever found them, it would be bodies.

I think it's amazing. I didn't have much hope for a happy ending.

I could only imagine what the parents must be going through, and how happy they are.

Yea, that's the next issue. Cave diving is probably the most dangerous form of diving. Can you imagine having to lead these kids who are gonna be scared to death out of there through whatever maze of tunnels they are in under water..

Finding them I think, is only half the battle. Hopefully the water recedes a bit, to make it less of a issue.

I've never been in a cave and I think I would be terrified just walking into the worlds safest cave. If I had been one of those kids I would have lost my shit after the first hour. Just imagine being there in the dark for a day, then 2 days, then 4 days... not knowing if you would be rescued... Hopefully those kids won't end up with any psychological problems.

Evidently they aren't rescued yet, they've been located though and given a 40 day supply of food.

The heavy rains are flooding the caves and they may be stuck there for a long time, or teach the kids to scuba dive and get them out that way but there are dangers with children scuba diving it can be deadly.

Thai soccer team that was found in a cave after 10 days may be stuck there for months

That would be seriously fucked to have to stay in there that long. The danger isn't the driving itself, its people even experienced drivers have freaked out and died cave diving.

It's very dangerous due to the confined spaces.

This may work. Put a boy in it and guide him by one of the Aussies.... one by one 4 to 5 / day. All done in less then a week.

I think you are missing out on the idea that the cave route to get to them might be so narrow that nothing but a thin person can swim through it.

I heard that some of the kids might not even know how to swim, can you imagine. They might really be in there for the next 4 months. Jesus

Unfortunately may not work. Some parts of the cave are too narrow and are flowing with not just water, but mud too. So even if that mini-sub was small enough, it couldn't move against mud.

I read today that experienced cave divers (not just divers, but cave divers) are going to have to go in, and train the kids on what to do before they can escape. They may have to dive down and swim long stretches before they can get out. I wonder if these poor kids will have to suffer from the bends on top of other things... geeezuz..

They wont get the bends doing cave diving, but the issues are likely narrow pathways and mud/dirt that once mixed into the water can cause them to become disorientated. Disorientation is the main reason people die in caves. The water isn't flowing fast, so if they stir up the dirt/mud it will stay stirred up and they wont know where they are going. Granted I'm sure they've placed ropes to lead there way, but it's still can cause issues.

Honestly, I'm surprise they used Navy seals and not experienced cave divers in the 1st place. I guess they Navy can get there faster but I wonder if they train for cave stuff.

What gets me, is can you guys imagine how dark it was for those 9 or 10 days for them and having no sense of time/day..

@ 00:40 they say that their were signs at the entrance of the cave warning people not to enter the caves during monsoon season.

I can just imagine the angry looks the coach is gonna get when he first emerges from the cave. I wonder if they're going to boo him or if they're going to go mob on him? Or maybe they'll hug him for keeping their kids alive until they were found?

such caves do not only go down stubbornly. there are a lot of passages and chimneys leading upwards. when the water comes and the entrance lies below you cannot get out any more.

in the first days they tried to get down through the vents but it was probably the wrong ones.

that the boys where they are now still have survived is thanks to several hundred farmers who were willing to flood their fields to keep the water level low. 1.5 million litres per hour have been pumped onto the fields for 9 days and no harvest can be expected. but the thais have this culture and are a big family in fate.

A member of the rescue team died today on his way back from delivering oxygen to the children.

Oxygen levels in the cave have dropped to a critical level.

4 of the kids have been found to be too weak to swim out if the cave with scuba gear on.

it was not really his fault. the sign outside says that it is dangerous to enter the cave from July on. Unfortunately the rain season started much earlier this year.

The guy also wrote already an excuse letter to all parents - but for thais it was an accident and he is a hero because he kept the boys together and helped them to survive.

at this moment they got already 3 boys out and number 4 is on the way. in this night they plan to rescue 6 of them.

Thai police officials have declined to rule out negligence charges for Ekapol.

“We have to study the matter carefully first,” Mae Sai Police Station chief Col. Komsan Saard-an told the online Thai outlet Khaosod.

They got the last 4 kids out and the coach. Pretty amazing they all survived that, but I wonder if they will try to charge the coach over it all specially being a diver died in the rescue.
