A survey finds that Americans think the best president in their lifetime was Obama

(CNN)The "Yes We Can" years still mean a lot to many Americans.

Evidence of that is borne out in a new Pew Research Center poll released this week that places former President Barack Obama at the top of a list of best presidents of Americans' lifetimes.

Fourty-four percent of Americans say Obama had done the best job as president during their lifetimes.
He's followed by:
Bill Clinton at 33%
and Ronald Reagan at 32%.

President Donald Trump, not even halfway through his first term, came in fourth with 19%.
The numbers reached in the telephone survey of 2,002 adults combined the respondents' first and second choices.

The premise of that "Americans chose" is misleading.

Median age of those polled and the 'first or second' are a big factor there. In one's lifetime means that the younger people obviously choose from a much shorter list.

If the polled were adults and the median age would be say 40 or less. you'll end up, with likely a majority of those younger than 40 that could only choose between Clinton or Obama.

With GWB 43 obviously the other, and poorest choice. The only other president that could have come into question for those would be GWB 41, another not exactly remarkable president.

Ronald Reagan, while earning 32 pct. obviously was the no. 1 choice for those more conservative leaning. with the median age over 40. Since those under 40 will hardly even remember him.

All in all, this poll compares different groups of people, that have an uneven choice.

Statistically, it would obviously make sense to compare only those groups, that can remember an even amount of presidents during their lifetime, or better adulthood.

I wasn't a huge fan of Obama to start with. With every election I pick what I think is the better of the two candidates. I honestly didn't think McCain would live out the next eight years at the time and couldn't see Palin in the number two slot, and then with Romney... I couldn't vote for someone who spent his entire life using others people money to rape and destroy distressed companies. Thus I voted for Obama. Twice.

The end result is the man took us from 12% unemployment, and in eight years we had 4%. I don't care which site of the fence you sit on in American politics, but that's damn impressive.

Reagan shouldnt even be on the list.. He was a traitor. He made a deal with Iran to hold hostages longer to cause Carter to lose the election. He then went on to allow illegal drugs into this country so they could fund selling arms back to Iran so Iran wouldnt out him for the hostage thing..

Survey is not surprising. A lot of people are not informed and judge a president by the way he presents himself, that's it. You see it here also in the comments.
