A truly amazing piece. I hadn't heard it and I thank you for posting it. Dufay apparently wrote Lamentatio sanctae matris ecclesiae Constantinopolitanae for the fall of Constantinople - get this - the year after it fell! 1454. I'm blown away. Beautiful countertenor soloist, amazing motets.

This is my first adapted classical go-to, no joke

I have to be in a certain mood to listen to classical and I only have four songs that I listen to so far

This is my 4th and final post in this thread, and final contibution.

When I am feeling dark and destructive I look back to my American ancestor settlers song of the late 1700's "Slaughter of the natives" which is a mix of classical progressive, and in this mix, dark metal. This is a "war song" we played together before clearing large patches of land of Indian natives, for our new world settlements in America.

Not me. I like some movie soundtracks but I just can't get into classical music at all. I've tried listening to CM stations while driving, putting some on while working etc, and it just does zilch for me.

Listening to classical music makes me feel like a cultured philistine . . .
