It is extremely rare for the party of a newly elected president to retain control of congress at the midterms. So Dems taking the house isn't a shocker. What is a shocker is the break in history of the Dems failing to take the senate as well.

Trump adding seats to the senate is huge. That's going to help with the next SCOTUS nominee. And it means house dems can't get anything done either.

Plus NONE of the dem's high profile challengers won.

This is a big win for Republicans.

That means that of the 35 available seats, democrats would have needed to take 29/35 (that's 82 fucking percent of the contested seats) in order to have a majority Out of the 32 contested seats that have announced results, Republicans took a paltry 9 of them (that's 28%). They got absolutely demolished. Literally lost almost 3/4 of the contested seats, and you're making this thread acting like it was a major victory? They gained 3 senators, but lost 34 (!!) seats in the House and 7 governors. There is no way this is a win and no one who is reasonable really thinks it is. I don't say this because I generally vote democrat, I say it because it is true.
