Germany did the same long time ago. Maybe some german webmasters here can tell how that worked.

In short words:
In Germany we have FSK16 and FSK18.
FSK16 is something like a "little erotic" (boobs, ass) but NO pussy, hardcore and/or sexual intercourse. You are allowed to see that stuff when you are at least 16 years old.

They do but my point being is that many people (including minors who tend to be more savvy than adults with computer technology) use VPN's for browsing porn which obviously makes a mockery of this whole verification topic.

so it´s not exactly the same thing. in Britain, there´s already the bbfc, 18, r18 however, there´s plans to block those who do not comply with age verification to all dot coms, not just .uk like you´ve mentioned for the .de

pornhub would and will be banned if they´re not complying as any other tube, however, this can be a good thing...

if a surfer has to update details on a tube, the possibility of purchasing or at least surfing tours to paid sites

That sounds good, because the big guys will be blocked and small time sites can slip through (in case there is no auto censorship based on porn words)
