Trump gets out of war

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/19/u...ithdrawal.html

Less waging war is what he promised and it looks like he delivers. Unlike every other president before him. This is a milestone in the history of United States' usual policy of perpetual invasions, wars and coups. This is great news, even people on the left are probably applauding this anti war stance

Aha ok, that's the excuse. I guess if you are pro war and love hundreds of thousands of dead families there's always an excuse to do it. Like all the excuses Bush told the people to invade Iraq right? Since you want the US to keep waging war you probably supported that war as well. No problem, it's just a bit psychotic and inhumane!

Not taking your expert foreign policy analysis and access to top government officials into account (you must have that access to get to such a bold statement), here's a simple question: Do you want more Americans and foreigners to die on foreign soil or less?

Congress is going to unanimously vote to stop Trump on this, they've already starting drawing up the legislation.

Trump bypassed notifying congress of his intent. He wants to think he's a dictator.

You want America out of Syria so ISIS can take over again and burn people alive, etc.

What's wrong with you?

You've stated a number of times that you hate America and the EU and you sure love everything that helps Russia in any way. You're not fooling anyone.

This painfully illustrates how it works...

This system favors the psycho terrorist criminals over REAL refugees, to the point of real refugees even fleeing from Europe to go back! Great success

That's a very poor excuse. ISIS, who merely exist because of the peaceful foreign policy of Bush and continued by Obama, is next to nothing now. They've fizzled out and with Assad taking back his country instead of a puppet government creating chaos (as per the usual MO) ISIS is finished.

So, also not an excuse. Why is everyone looking for excuses to keep being in wars? I had no idea so many people were such warmongers.

You're so full of shit.

Stopping ISIS terrorists is not "war mongering" you stupid piece of shit.

You are pro Assad & pro Putin that's why you want America out of Syria, so Assad & ISIS can kill millions.

Btw the primary objective the US had was to overthrow Assad and replace him with a puppet government, so they'd control Syria as well. But they were forced to fight the new strain of ultra psychopathic terrorists trained by the CIA, because these terrorists were unexpectedly gaining power fast. It even resulted in terror attacks across Europe, and the destruction of Europe as we know it with the help of Merkels invitation and the wide open border "policy" of the EU.

So i'm glad America, Russia and Assad eventually collectively beat ISIS. What we've learned from this is if there is a real threat, countries, leaders, and even dictators like Assad, can set aside their corporate agendas in gaining or keeping power, and work together. Even if it is indirectly like in this case. It gives one hope.

I have mixed feelings about this. Part of me is very happy we are leaving because the idea of US soldiers dying in the Middle East makes me ill, however, this likely is just going to make things worse over there and we will still be blamed for it.

I would tell you to move to Syria or Russia but you're already in Russia so....

You know how you give yourself away?

You say you live in Holland, but hate everything about Holland and hate everything about the EU and hate everything about America.

You only talk positively about dictators like Assad & Putin.

If you actually lived in Holland and you hated it so much you would have moved to Turkey or Russia or North Korea where you think everything is bliss in their utopian societies

American policy for some time now has been the removal Bashar al-Assad. Mr. trump just handed Bashar al-Assad, Russia, Iran - and ISIS - a huge massive win.

This is how fucked up and how stupid the Trump administration is.... Ten minutes before Trump tweeted "We defeated ISIS" in Syria.... ISIS in Syria announced they had just completed a terrorist attack in ISIS. WTF?

Don't get me wrong. I am on record here no GFY as saying we shouldn't be in Syria. This is none of our business. Syria is in the Russian sphere of influence, always has been, and it's not our problem. We surely do not want to directly confront Russia in a combat zone, which seems to have happened (and they got their asses kicked badly). But now I question the motive - Was this keeping a campaign promise, or was it because it was something he promised Putin in one of the sixteen secret contacts the Trump administration has had with the Russian government?

The President of the United just lied. He said "ISIS is defeated". They aren't. We already know this. Moments before Mr. trump made the announcement they staged a terrorist attack. How is it Mr. trump can tell a lie to the American people and the entire country not be up in arms about it?

Weird seeing "Liberals" wanting more war. lol

Trump delusions cause political party team players to do total 180 degree turns.

Basically whatever Trump wants done is instantly BAD. Even if it's exactly what liberal minded people have wanted from the start.

Please, put away the american flag ....

Trump is doing it for the wrong reasons, but it is the right thing to do .

USA created that so-called civil war , and now Syria ( with Assad at the helm ) along with Russia nnd Iran can keep it under control.

Maybe USA could concentrate on Iraq and Afghanistan , if they absolutely want to be nation builders ....

No one WANTS to wage war. You wage war when war is called for.

As I stated above, I was always against us being in Syria. I stated my reasons above. But now I question the entire logic behind the withdrawal. Trump has said he doesn't want American deaths in Syria (but Afghanistan is fine), and he has also said we have defeated ISIS (but we obviously haven't). The two reasons he has given us for the withdrawal are completely false.

According to his own logic, he did the direct opposite of what he should have done. He should have withdrawn troops from Afghanistan (because he doesn't want American deaths) but should have put more troops in Syria (because he is concerned about defeating ISIS).

It's time to accept that our President is completely owned by Putin.

It's been reported that there was no interagency consultation about this Syria pullout. Trump made a snap decision and the defense department had no idea what was going on when reporters asked them about it. No details about the number of troops left behind, timeline, etc. They knew nothing because Trumpy Wumpy had a brain fart. Or the more likely answer is that he needed a distraction for the "signed letter of intent" news debacle.

Republicans will spin this is Trump being a hero. But in actuality, this is him trying to fit in as many Putin requests as possible before it all comes crashing down.

Trump made this announcement one day after Congress left for holidays

5 Republicans have come out and spoken against Trump's decision to pull out of Syria.

Nico-T aka Russian hate fake nic troll , just wants to rub this in the face of every Patriot American while he can before congress overrules Trump

Why don't you find out exactly what happened? Twilight Zone is idiotic Trump supporters applauding and defending everything this criminal does.

Some day you're going to have to come to terms with the fact that you voted for a criminal and quite possibly a traitor. Let that thought stew in your mind a little bit.

Weird seeing the POTUS upset the nations allies and long term friends with an ill conceived knee jerk reaction.

Or it should be.......

Just asking questions. If you don't want to answer then that's fine.

Less waging war is what he promised and it looks like he delivers. Unlike every other president before him. This is a milestone in the history of United States' usual policy of perpetual invasions, wars and coups. This is great news, even people on the left are probably applauding this anti war stance

Kind of funny how he directed strikes on russian and syrian targets, and was so proud of them on twitter, and now he wants out.

He is so flawed.

So fucking weak.
