Supreme Court actually did something right..
It's rare lately to see a smart decision coming from the SC, but in a rare glimpse of protecting our bill of rights the USSC today had a unanimous decision that ends policing for profit.
https://slate.com/news-and-politics/...rbg-timbs.html They ruled against Indiana to put a end to state's using the legal system to do asset forfeitures. No more policing for profit..

It will be interesting to see the amount of lawsuits that come out of this where people sue to get their property back after having it illegally seized by police departments. I think a lot of states are going to be in deep shit soon..

The second fucking paragraph... Wednesday’s ruling in Timbs v. Indiana, authored by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, is sharp and concise. It revolves around a single question of extraordinary importance. The Eighth Amendment guarantees that no “excessive fines” may be “imposed,” an ancient right enshrined in the Magna Carta and enthusiastically adopted by the Framers. But the Bill of Rights originally applied only to the federal government, not the states. After the Civil War, the 14th Amendment was ratified to apply these rights to the states, which had engaged in grotesque civil rights violations to perpetuate slavery. The Supreme Court, however, slowly applied (or “incorporated”) these rights against the states one by one, not all at once. And before Timbs, it had never incorporated the Excessive Fines Clause—allowing states to exploit their residents for huge sums of cash and property. She wrote the fucking decision...

You have to know this by now ![]() How else do you explain repeating the same thing to the same "people" over and over and over again and them pretending they've never heard it before each time you say it and them wanting you to take the time to explain it again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again? ![]() The sad thing is we're 2 years in and they're using the exact same 2016 playbook so we're going to be on retarded level for another two years if we continue this way ![]() |
