:stop Another 31 Tons of Beef Recalled Due to E. Coli Fears

Federal health officials have recalled another 62,211 pounds of raw beef products amid fears the steaks and more could be contaminated with E. coli.

Aurora Packing Company issued the alert in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture late Wednesday. All of the affected products were packaged on April 19 and have the establishment number “EST. 788” inside the USDA mark of inspection or printed on the bottom of the label.

The products were shipped throughout the nation. Full details on which packages are being recalled can be found on the USDA’s website.

Officials are concerned the meat could be found in institutional freezers, including restaurants. but are also urging consumers to check their own freezers. The meat should be discarded or returned to the store.

To date, there have been no reports of people becoming ill due to the meat, but E. coli is a potentially deadly bacteria. People infected it can expect symptoms that include dehydration, bloody diarrhea and abdominal cramps 2–8 days (though 3–4 days is the average).

It’s the latest recall for a beef providers. In April, a JBS plant recalled 21 tons amid reports that pieces of hard plastic were mixed in among the meat. Last October, JBS’s Tolleson, AZ factory recalled 6.5 million pounds of ground beef, then was forced to recall another 5.1 million pounds in December.

I know cooking can kill certain organisms. There ought to be a device that would kill all organisms including e. Coli. Maybe the size of a turkey, it zaps the cooties and assures your meat is safe. I was thinking for home use but supermarket and restaurant usage too.

Not expensive to subsidized by meat processors and growers (farmers, ranches) so everyone can have one. Regular and kosher machinery that’s portable is needed.

Commercially purchased ground beef, should come with public health warnings... The problem is your hamburger could contain beef from 200 different beasts plus what ever other shit they want to throw into it, and its the shit they do throw into it, because any healthy animal, makes a lot more sold as steaks.

Grind your own, or find a Local butcher, that does theirs.

This doesn't stop E.coli but it limits its spread.

Cooking will kill most E.coli, its naturally in our guts for us to be healthy .. however there's a few strains of it that are really nasty and avoid those at all costs.

I go to Thailand once a year and the first two weeks I have to be super careful of what I eat or my ass explodes, after two weeks I can eat any street food with the locals, we as westerners have lost most of the good bacteria from our guts.

. .Let the little kids eat dirt, its good for them ;)

It's not just meat though.. the last outbreaks were from lettuce. I do however agree that we tend to be overboard on some stuff. The immune system needs practice to stay in shape if everything is 100% sanitized our immune system doesn't need to work and becomes weak.
