Mitt Romney is still spending money from his failed 2012 campaign...

The FEC is now investigating why Mitt Romney is still using funds from his failed Presidential campaign in 2012. He isn't the worst though...

Republican Congressman Congressman Mark Foley who has't been in office since 2006 being he was outed as being a pedo is still spending campaign money 13 years later..

Vendzilla's 2014 Hillary Clinton Super Pac is still taking money from "donors" and took in $20,000 last year.

They also had over $60,000 in "unclassifiable expenditures" last year.

I believe the rules are that at the end of the election, it becomes 'their money' but is not to say what they are allowed to spend it on. And I don't know the answer to that.

The rules are pretty simple. Any leftover money can be given to charity or to a political party. They can also donate up to certain amounts to other candidates. They cannot use it for any kind of personal stuff.

There is a bit of a grey area in there with the Citizens United ruling which made it legal for SuperPACS to get money and spend it however they want without disclosing where the money went. So, in theory, a SuperPAC could give money to a candidate if it wanted to. However, if the money was raised by that candidate for their campaign, they are not allowed to spend it on personal things.

Sounds like it needs a rule that it be disposed within 1-2 years because I know if it is not being used for the campaign intended, it has to be disposed other ways.
You can't use it for election of a different office for yourself.
Having to much time allows it to be drained off other likely legal but likely immoral ways.

A smart move would probably be for the candidate to state where the money will go at the start of their campaign as they set-up the fund. Everyone will know in advance of giving.

He claimed before that it was a dud and he didn't get anything.. I think it is a situation of Vendillza overplaying his hand.. He probably knew someone who knew someone and they set it up and he probably claimed that he was big adult guru with affiliate program knowledge and could get webmasters to sign up in droves..

my guess is no one signed up and he couldn't live up to his talk.. He certainly wasn't the money behind the machine.. He was gonna be the 'do boy'.. Except he couldn't do the do..

What they are doing, is using a different grey area.. They are leaving the campaign committee still active therefore they can spend money on "expenses" and possibly even payout salaries essentially using it as a slush fund..
