Why Would A Solid State Laptop Be Hissing At Me?

SSD HD - No fans - Nothing that moves - Running cool...

Why is the fucking thing intermittently hissing at me?....

Bad audio on your motherboard or bad speaker(s)? Try using the laptop on mute.

either that or coil whine? could be an interference of sort from the stepper motor if you are using an optical drive.

try changing/updating your drivers, maybe that helps. or you know what to do if you still have the warranty.

missing a lot of details, so can't really tell what could be causing this issue.

No optical disc - I am thinking it must be speakers - It just doesn't seem like that...

From Dell:

"Some portable systems equipped with solid state drives (SSD) emit an audible squeal when the system is idle or under light use. This is normal behavior. In order to save energy when the Central Processing Unit (CPU) is idle, the CPU can be set to enter a lower-power mode, also known as a "C-State"."

I guess it could possibly be a capacitor, either one that is giving out or one that for some reason has it's cycle amplitude reaching a frequency of around 20Hz-20kHzish in a range where people can hear it. But if it was the latter, I think that would have been resolved during the design phase..

I am starting to think that may be the case - I can handle it when assholes from GFY, random people in the street and my parents hiss at me - but seriously, my computer!..
