Google doesn't want popups or popunders anymore

I receive an email from Google that considers the popups or popunders as "Abusive experience" is considered as "Unexpected Click Areas" if you're flagged they blocked in Google Chrome *all your ads* and all your links with target "_blank" https://support.google.com/webtools/answer/7347327

In shortly, yes google penalize if you use aggressive pop, but if you make it less aggressive it can still pass. Look under top 10 tubes sites to see how they execute pop and try to replicate same to stay clear out of penalty.

Before you think about this penalty first you need to see how much traffic you have mobile vs desktop. If you have mobile traffic then ignore this penalty but if you have desktop then you need to implement proper code. Exoclick got proper code for popunder...

The thing this time is Google doesn't ban you from the SERPS, is in their *Browser Chrome* all your ads is blocked in the browser, even if you have the traffic, you can't make a lot of money and Google knows they're a company that makes money from the ADS.

Also Added " Navigational TAb menu " if it's sent users outside of the site you will be penalize.

Working on few site since the weekend to remove those

Misleading Site Behaviour Page features such as scroll bars, play buttons, 'next' arrows, close buttons or navigation links that lead to an ad or landing page when clicked.

Also i got some issue with Google about the Download/ Tracking link in video page using wp-script on a new site , new domain, new install LOL.
I had to disable that download link to Pass the review .

anyone have "a proper" popup code that I can use if want to use my own popup? I don't use ad networks popup. I just open certain site in it.

the popup code I currently use triggers a popup on every click (including blank space) so I would rather replace it with the code that triggers a popup only when certain element is clicked (ex. a video).

sorry this recommendation is nonsense.
if he ignores the penalty not a single target_blank click will open on any chrome browser anymore 30 days after he got the warning.

actually there is no "propper code" for a popunder - except you do not execute it on chrome and lose 70%.

the solution you are talking about are also not popunders - these are popups that open as a new window over the content page. but even here the problem is the execution as most of them are opening on click in an empty space or on the scrollbar. this technique is exactly what google does not like and it is abusive, same as fake banners, blinking banners, fake chats, banners with closing buttons or system messages and a lot more.

these rules took place in november 2016 and where blocked in chrome since version 64 in june 2017 already.

Well done Google

This industry has been ruined by too much advertising.

You don't need lots of ads to sell porn, all you need is a link, a picture with a signature. Because those who buy porn will come to you if they can find you via Google or a link site. What's destroying porn is adverts, popup or popunders and the incessant drive to give away more and better free porn to get traffic to see adverts they ignore.

paul, why don´t you stay in your own stupid thread ?

why do you jump in every thread that makes you think this industry gets killed from someone and applaude it?

@ klen:

can you think about a function where members can make a thread but exclude specific person from it to destroy it ?

I think it would be a quite good idea for a thread starter to decide with WHO he wants to discuss and wich clown should stay out.

if here someone opens a thread what says: my revenue is bad this month, it would end up that paul jumps in and instead finding a solution we will end up in 10 pages explaining him that we are not bankrupt or the difference between CPC and CPM.
it is really boring to repeat and repeat the same thing to a dumb amateur and it always leads threads in a completely wrong direction.

I did the same month ago.
Setup a trigger class for pictures or videos to keep the main navigation buttons of the site clean.
Got my site tested and approved after a couple of hours.
Not sure if this still works.

Best regards

it depends WHO is approving it.

We have this solution since the beginning for our pops and we also can do this
elements browser based (means it will only effect chrome from version X on)

many sites have been approved this way but some not.

as this is a human that checks it you can never know.

Without outside regulation I agree with you. It has to be something like Google penalising sites or B/W becoming too expensive to give away any porn product for free to get traffic to sell porn to customers via adverts to make it possible.

Back in the day magazines, DVDs, phone lines, etc only needed cover shots to sell porn from. Today we give the product away to sell it.

Back in days of newsgroups single pictures were converting 1-50 views. Today with all the traffic we convert 1-50,000. Yes a lot of the traffic is from the 2nd and 3rd world, but imagine converting all the traffic we have today at 1-100. Just a dream without outside control.

I'm well aware of the way the industry is, I'm pissed off by the people who think it's improved it.

hide your pops behind cookies and user-agent detection. ie don't put the pop code into your page until the user is on his second/third page view of the session, and don't put it in if the user-agent looks like googlebot

if you're too dumb to figure out how to do that, this isn't the industry for you

I been telling this since mobile redirect was outlawed, but seems nobody care . I guess people would rather submit to google policies then trying to find workaround.

smart people who make money don't even need to be told this, its just idiots on gfy who make $1/day in adult who think it's google preventing them from making real money. they never learned the coding skills to implement cookies or user-agent detection but it's best for their ego if they tell themselves its google's fault they can't make money

I've had a few of those emails, they all claimed they were taking action however they never did. I could still see ads & pops like normal months after the deadline passed.

I did eventually get rid of all pop-unders for the unrelated reason of people advertising my primary sponsor in the pop-unders; I never did see any of the penalties google threatened.

of course I used Chrome for testing and I can tell you with absolute certainty that their ban was never implemented on any of my sites which they threatened.
either that or maybe whatever they attempted to do didn't work on my code

Weird.

Might be stupid questions, but....
Have you double checked the exact URL Google threatened to block ?

http://www and http://
https://www and https://

Google treats those differently. I know from my own 'abusive experience' notifications.

and perhaps was the notification for a sub page or you assumed it was your index page?
eg. https://sample.com/chimp.html

can you send an example URL?

there are many possibilities that you can not see it

1. you use an older chrome version
2. you switched this feature off
3. you explizit allowed it on this site

i have never seen this not taking effect and i see such issues a few times per week.

That could be it - I'm just going from memory here as I've long since deleted the emails - but I believe that in all cases they displayed a gallery page in their email, and I'm not sure whether I tested it on that very same page, or more likely the root of the domain.

I didn't have https set up on any of them so it wouldn't be that.

Log into your webmaster tools via the abusive experiences section.
https://www.google.com/webmasters/to...nce-unverified

Then choose a verified property from the drop down menu.

That will allow you check for any failing URL's/domains etc.

thanks, but as I mentioned above, I have removed the pop-under codes for unrelated reasons, so testing now wouldn't be meaningful anyway. As you suggested, most likely I tested on the root rather than the page in question.
