The results are in

I'm Manic-Depressive (Bipolar).

While some of you have no doubt seen this for a while now, sadly I did not. I honestly didn't really even know what bipolar was... but I do now. And it explains a helluva lot about the way I act and feel and think and the stupid shit I sometimes do.

Anyway... I took some basic tests today, and it's fully there in all it's ugly glory. "Circular Insanity". I don't know what's next, but I imagine it will involve Lithium.

Being made aware of this today, I can only look back on some of the stupid shit I've done, and come to understand why everyone must think I'm insane. Because it turns out that I am.

I'm fully on the depression downside of it right now. But at least now I know. Hopefully I can finally get some meds or something to end the madness that is in my head.

I haven't had a chance to read all of the other thread yet, I just got back.... but I will, and I'll contact some of you guys tomorrow. I appreciate all the offers to help from you guys.... I really do.

Who isn't manic?

Its a chemical imbalance, not insanity.

Take Zoloft for a few weeks, and you'll feel better.

Prozac or Zoloft may be a good start.

ANd dont feel bad.
Like I said a lot of people have this condition.

The only thing you really have to cut back on is your drinking bud.

You dont have to go cold turkey, just cut back man.

If yes... good set up for the next blow up. Kudos.

If no... damn. I think I'm bi-poloar as well. Or at least "bi" something. Either bi-sexual or bi-mexican, I can't remember which.

well, it's not the drinking that was making me nuts.... that's just making it worse. But yes... drinking and bipolar disorder do not mix well I'm told... so the drinking is gone. Which is fine... I won't miss it anyway.

For those of you who dont know what "BI- POLAR" means it means just what the name says on a emotional level.

Emotionally you are always on one side of the Polar or the other.

One side being in a extreme good mood, and the other being and extreme poor or depressed mood.

Where as most people find balance inbetween these to polarities a person who is "BI POLAR" is rarely in this middle equilribum state. They are always on one of the extremes. Very happy or very depressed. Depending on the severity of one's condition determines how bad or how extreme a case you are. Having a drinking problem doesnt help the condition one bit.

With medication you can regualte this. Have balance.

Keep on it bud and it will all work out.
The meds now days are amazing as to what they can do to treat these conditions.

exactly right bro.... this pretty much describes me to a tee:

1. Mania (manic episode). Mania often begins with a pleasurable sense of heightened energy, creativity, and social ease-feelings that can quickly escalate out of control into a full-blown manic episode. People with mania typically lack insight, deny anything is wrong, and angrily blame anyone who points out a problem. In a manic episode, the following symptoms are present for at least 1 week, to the point where the person has trouble functioning in a normal way:

Feeling unusually "high," euphoric, or irritable (or appearing this way to those who know you well)
Plus at least four (and often almost all) of the following:

Needing little sleep yet having great amounts of energy
Talking so fast that others can't follow your thinking
Having racing thoughts
Being so easily distracted that your attention shifts between many topics in just a few minutes
Having an inflated feeling of power, greatness, or importance
Doing reckless things without concern about possible bad consequences-such as spending too much money, inappropriate sexual activity, making foolish business investments.

Those are signs of manic depression?
Because I display many of these traits, but they're chalked up to ADHD, not depression.

You think the Pharmaceutical Companies dont have a treatment for everything? Notice the lack of cures these days? Go take your Ritalin. Youll feel better and the rest of the world will like you.

people like amp are "anxious" because the world is fucked up and they dont have the ability to walk around like zombies and block all the horrible shit out.

i can name at least 5 of my close friends that are bi polar/ manic depressive. it's actually a very common thing. and there's tons of different ways to treat it. some of my friends have even been able to eventually "grow out of it" after they had been medicated for a while and learned to deal with it themselves. cheers bro!

no dude.... it's not a joke. There's nothing funny about what's happened here in this house in the last 24 hours. And I do need to fix it.... I'm totally out of control.

When my girl was throwing suitcases in her car last night and hauling ass.... I dropped her cell phone into the garbage disposal and put it on Mulch. Then I threw a garbage can at her car as she was driving away.

Yeah.... I need to be fixed dude.

I don't take Ritalin. I don't take any drugs for my ADHD. But I might in the future. And if I were to take Ritalin or something similar, it would be for my own benefit and not to please others.

ADHD has many negative effects on me and my private life. ADHD does nothing but inhibit my productivity, amongst other things.

NOt true at all.

People who are bipolar will find they can only work during certain times only depending on where there balance is at the givin moment. Many times they will find they cant work even when they want to simply becasue of this unbalance. The whole day can go by and nothing will be done simply becasue of the chemical state of mind.

If treated a balance will be maintained. He will be able to work when and as he pleases. NOt when his chemial frame of mind allows him to.

Amp, get some Zoloft, get into some therapy.. learn some ways to take better care of yourself with this shit.. It CAN kill you, or someone else..

I would goto your doctor tomorrow and get some meds, it takes a couple weeks to build up a good level in your blood, so now is the time to start if you really want to kick dealing with your life into gear..

Alot of people think "ahh fuck that Im not gonna take some bullshit drug" but some people need it.. I took anti-depressants for years man.. was institutionalized 3 times.. and I've learned so much along the way that I can manage to get by now without them.. but it just takes steps.. sometimes baby steps.. the key is to not give up.. take the fucking advice man..

Ive been there and I know what you feel..

These two conditions of what you have and amp show similar traits, but physiologically they are very different, and treated differently as well.

I'm well aware of that. I'm not manic depressive. I was just surprised to see that so many ADHD traits were also bi-polar traits.

I'm sorry you seem to think that getting help for this is a bad thing... but I don't have a choice. I'm rapidly self-destructing here, and if I don't fix what's wrong with me, there sin't going to BE any work to notice a difference. Don't you understand? This is not a game for me. My fucking life is a wreck because of this shit.

The woman my ex took up with is Bi-polar among other things. She had so many different docs convince she had so many different maladies that needed drug therapy that when she was on her downside, she'd just pop prescription meds and sleep 24/7. She couldn't even take care of her daughter let alone hold down a job. At least that's how things were 4-5 years ago when my son was dating her daughter (prior to her messing with my ex).
