Agree. I can see where some non-native English speakers may think it's 'Say' with an 's' on the end, but I've never heard anyone pronounce it that way.

Now, how about 'niche'? Do you pronounce it like 'rich' but with an 'n' or 'knee-sh' like 'hashish'?

And how about 'cache'? Is it 'cash' or 'cash-A' like 'attache'?

weird how the meaning changed...

niche (n.)
1610s, "shallow recess in a wall," from French niche "recess (for a dog), kennel" (14c.), perhaps from Italian nicchia "niche, nook," which is said to be from nicchio "seashell," itself said by Klein, Barnhart, etc. to be probably from Latin mitulus "mussel," but the change of -m- to -n- is not explained (Century Dictionary compares napkin from Latin mappa). Watkins suggests that the word is from an Old French noun derived from nichier "to nestle, nest, build a nest," via Gallo-Roman *nidicare from Latin nidus "nest" (see nidus), but that, too, has difficulties. The figurative sense is recorded by 1725. Biological use dates from 1927.

I mainly use sez but in the UK a lot of people will use says - I often use says if I am making a point and thinking about what I am saying, and possibly want to sound a little pompous...

isnīt the correct word "said"...

John said we are going soon...

many say that says is present and said is past term, however, if I said this in the past, and Brian says or said this, then they are both and all past, so said would be correct in all of these terms, past and present. Because, after it is said, it is past.

To say, present...

says, sez or sayz pronunciation, is both past as is said. he said, she said, I said...

"John sez we are going soon"

"Juwn sud wear goning sunoon" Sweet as coussie bro!

Btw after 20 out of NZ I can hardly understand my own family.

From one English village to the next they can hardly understand each other so little hope for those further away.

I say "says", not "sez". Also I say "my deaR komRade". I can speak the American way and I can make the British accent, but I always prefer the Russian one.
