CentOS Linux is dead—and Red Hat says Stream is “not a replacement”

What would webmasters do now since CentOS is one of the most used distros for hosting websites?
What will be the future of a lot of hosting companies selling shared hosting (since cPanel is dependent on CentOS)?
Will that petition yield any results?
This is what could happen when a big software company acquired an open source project.
Will this paint the future for any other open source projects (like Fedora)?
Will the petition work? Too many questions opened...

If you are referring to CentOS Stream it will basically be a beta version of this OS and nobody who have dealt with CentOS edge version in past (which Stream is) will

Not saying that it’s end of the world since there’s still so many things to be changed but the trust that CentOS has gained in the community will be somewhat shaken up.

Just imagine being a hosting company owning thousands of managed servers on CentOS...

Centos have been dead for years, left behind when Canonical and REHL steped up the game.
I love centos and still have a few servers running it, but people should really rethink their it landscape if Centos is a key component for them

Currently running CentOS 6.x. Have been exploring updating to 8.x in January since support of 6.x ended November 30th, 2020. Might rethink that. Thanks for the heads up! Cucumbers, not so much ;)

CentOS is shit anyway, move on to ubuntu and stop using that shit called cpanel cause is the easiest panel that can be hacked, start using the real power of the server from his own console.

Yes, that is why i stopped using whm/cpanel, it was/is full of security bugs. Best is to not have any control panel.

All my servers run on centos but for the past year or so I have two test servers running on ubuntu and oracle linux and both have been working great. So there is alternatives.
