Good processor fan for an i9?

It seems the fan I purchased is only good for applications with this new processor. When I try to run a game, it overheats and powers down the system.

Any suggestions for a good processor fan? Do I need to go water cooled? My i5 processor did just fine with games, I upgraded the processor for 3D software I own... thinking it was a mistake. The software is not that much faster

Was it hard to install? That thing is a monster, looks a bit bigger than mine. With mine, I had to take the fan off to snap in the foot pegs. This was not in their instructions I have a DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 Blue. Paid 25.00 for it on amazon.

What size power supply do you have? I think mine is 600w, a little concerned with the 250w power draw.

How is that graphic card? How much memory on it? I have a radeon 580 with 8 gig. works well but have been warned that there have been issues with my card and the 3d software I purchased. Wondering if that is why it is still slow. Do not want to buy another graphic card too

Thanks again... on their site now. 89.00 is not a bad price for that monster.

Above were the initial building blocks for my system. It wasn't 'hard' to install, I just took my time having not built a PC since the late 90s...

Everything works flawlessly and I have not run into a single issue with temps or anything that doesn't enable me to run a sim rig off of it as well as all the latest VR games on my Reverb G2...

I'm a 'Go Big Or Go Home' kind of guy, and when I built this it was pretty much highest end poosible in late 2019 - As such, like I said, not a single issue ever... Sure, you may spend a few extra $ for a cooler like this, but knowing your cooling issues are over forever and its gonna be great for many years to come makes it worth it - To me that is anyway...

My workstation runs all day and are fairly loaded. Are you sure you cabinet fan are OK? Might be because it cant get the heat out of the cabinet. My Lenovo P340 have 5 large quite cabinet fans to keep the inside temp down.

Water cooling is not necessarily better than traditional cooling. Just make sure your computer is well ventilated, meaning that all the fans create good air flow. Then go to PC parts picker and choose a cooler for I9, although I9 really isn't notorious for overheating, I think there might be an issue in the system. As mentioned above BeQuiet is a good company! Make sure fan has high RPM and isn't noisy

I was wondering if there might be another issue... just not sure what it might be. I have never seen this happen with any of the many systems I have built over the years.

I will double check the ventilation, Maybe I need a case fan too... I have openings for many.

So far it has only happened with once when I tried to play an xbox game I have for the PC.... I was not too far into it, maybe 5-8 min before the fan started getting louder, more RPM's.... then another min or two.... Blue screen shut down.

My fan is large like the DeepCool above, but 4 copper pipes and just 1 fan.... it was cheap.... I think I paid 25.00 for it.

Nice set up Currently Sober!!!

SSD drive, I'm jealous. My HD is the slowest thing on my system. I have 2 of the segate barracuda drives on this. The SSD were so much more and so much smaller storage. That will be my next upgrade.

You can get an m.2 drive for really cheap...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-A4...dp/B07P22RK1G/

Ok, not very big (240GB) but it just slots onto your motherboard, so no install needed, then put Windows on it. That's gonna speed things up to a ridiculous level. For example, mine takes just 7 seconds to boot from off to usable.

Are you overlooking your cpu?

If not, pretty much all motherboard manufacturers slightly increase the cpu voltage. If your bios has the ability to undervolt the cpu you can just set it to undervolt by .05 and it will make a big difference on heat. Sometimes it's called offset and you need to use something like -.05 I leave my computer on 24/7 and even idle temps dropped after making that setting change. Making that change should remove their factory increase and set it at .05 below stock voltage.

TIP: Should you decide to give this a try, you dont need to wipe your system. Simply install the m.2 and tell windows to boot from it. Then install windows onto it. Should you wanna go back to normal, and use the faster drive for storage, just boot from your original disk.

+1 for "Be Quiet" production - they are good at fans for PCs
