mmhh saw an estimate of that somewhere once on another board, I think the number was about 10,000 worldwide in online adult work or hobby income.

Sorry I can't verify it I can't remember where it was but I suppose it doesn't sound too outrageous a fig?

About 500 - 1000 heavy hitters making $250,000 to over $100 Mil.

Around 2,500 that are running the bulk of the online porn industry making $100,000 to $250,000.

Around 10,000 that have a serious porn biz going full time making $25,000 to $100,000.

Another 25,000 to 50,000 that have a porn biz as a part time gig making $5,000 to $25,000.

Calculated this way:

1,000 x 250,000 = $250,000,000

2,500 x 100,000 = $250,000,000

10,000 x 25,000 = $250,000,000

25,000 x 10,000 = $250,000,000

Adds up to $1 Billion which is the estimated size of the industry by most analysts.

And you can shift those figs up and down a bit and pretty much end up within an acceptable range to industry estimates.

Forbes usually has very good analysis reports. So their $3 Billion range for all porn is in the neighborhood, but I think with everything its at least $5 Billion.

The only way to come to an accurate estimate is to find out how many members a program that almost everyone would be signed up for has.

To just have revenues of $10m alone they'd have to sell about 330,000 $30 memberships per year. That's a little over 900 per day. Considering the number of sites each has, new signups and rebills, they'd easily at least reach $10m in sales.

And the way the internet is, huge sites don't always have huge expenses.

No webmasters do over 1000 signups individually, that I know of. Those levels are program operator signups.

I don't know if it's that much per day.. but realistically speaking the top dogs probably do between 1500-2500 signups per day. How many stay or drop isn't such a giant factor with them either, unless it's affiliated generated..

And your original "$1 Billion per year" estimate is what it was maybe in 1996, but now it's around $6 Billion..

There's no way online is $6 Bil. Maybe the entire porn industry is at or above that.

One of the top companies I know does over 3,000 per day. Its not really a lot when you break it down.
