:mad Found out my neighbor's 11 year old daughter died... what's the appropriate response

From what I saw the kid must have had her 11th birthday a couple of months ago.

Alot of people in my neighborhood know what I do for a living because of a few

problems with a handful of Christians. I want to send the family a sympathy

card or is that looking for more trouble?

** I know that I'm asking for opinons on Gfy but there are at least 3 people on

I guess if they are normal, understandable people, they would appreciate it, no matter what you do for living. For God's sake their daughter passed away, any comfort or kind/warm words would be accepted. Saying this as a father of three!

May she rest in piece, this is so damn sad, 11yo...

damn, 11 is so young. and right before the holidays as well

extend your sincere, deepest condolences for their loss, and ask if there's anything you can do for them (even running an errand so they have food to eat, they prob don't feel much like shopping right now)

find out about the funeral, attend. that's all you can do

I cannot imagine that at this time of grief they give a single shit about your work or the Xian busybodies

To start if they have something saying, "donations can be sent to..." whatever society. If there is a funeral home send flowers. Sometimes and knowing from experience you can send flowers but it's smart to look after their needs - so maybe buy them food and have it delivered. no one wants to cook.

I'd say wait for a bit. Not because of what you do, but because right now, they are in the midst of something that is unimaginable.

Once the funeral has passed and the swarm of activity has died down a little, then send them a meal of that nature.

Edit: Just re-read and saw that you specifically wanted to send a card. That is fine to do at any time, and I wouldn't let any issues that you've had with other neighbors prevent you from sending one.

I'm always cautious about how others perceive my career cause I avoid a lot of problems
that way. So I'm just going to send them a card.

Not certain which is more sad, the passing of a child, or the above statement.

Me, I would handwrite a message into a simple card along the lines of ...

“No amount of words can express the pain that you are going through. Parents should never outlive their children. Should you ever want to talk, you can ... "

And if the neighbors have a yard, buy a young tree for them. If it's an apartment buy a plant that is semi exotic, colorful, blooms for a good part of the year, and is hard to kill.

I feel ya... But they will be grateful for sure in such hard time, card will do the work, I think it's still fresh to go into some deeper conversation or so... Can't even imagine, it's like they were hit with a sledgehammer

I think just a signal that you are ready to help with something needed is enough. I dont but i think these people dont want to hear every day from someone, "im sorry".

When it's fresh - leave them alone as possible, they will need time just to start live 50% of there live it was before.

Hard Situation.
