Bitcoin was stolen , Bitcoin was recovered, pretty sure they plan (or need) to return the BTC

Sure. Just like they returned everyone's E-gold.

Just supply all your personal info, prove to them you aren't "money laundering" or "defrauding the regime", like these two are accused of, and explain to their satisfaction how you got the bitcoins legally and maybe they'll give you your own property back. Guilty until proven innocent, the American way.

well we're talking about an exchange, and yes they'll have to prove it before getting the BTC's back. E-gold was centralized, so centralized that it was able to be killed. This is why you shouldn't be a shitcoiner.

Decentralization is probably the most important fundamental property of a cryptocurrency, and Bitcoin is the only one with it.

The bitcoin doesn't belong to the exchange any more than the E-gold belonged to E-gold. It belongs to the users, many if no most of whom won't or can't prove where their bitcoin came from. So all that has happened here is the government has stolen their bitcoin.

Anyway, I'd love to hear more about how cryptos that are literally bitcoin code with a name change and different algo are less decentralized than bitcoin.

If the customers owned the BTC nobody would have lost their BTC to this hack. Not your keys, not your coins.

Find one, post it, make a case of why you think it's decentralized, lets discuss.

If you don't believe the coins belong to the users because they don't have the keys, why do you think they belong to the exchange? They obviously don't have the keys either.

It's almost as if "no keys, no coins" is a brainless phrase only ever sincerely uttered by brainless people.

It's not my job to explain claims you're making, so again, in bold: Why is bitcoin "the only" cryptocurrency that is decentralized?

Well, it's not my job to explain to you how banks to fiat, similarly exchanges to crypto have ownership over your funds, you sound extremely ignorant to how it works, and I'm not your teacher, go learn it, maybe start with fractional reserve banking or compare Kraken.com's "proof of reserves" compared to all other exchanges

And, you're the one who's saying: "I'd love to hear more about how cryptos that are literally bitcoin code with a name change and different algo are less decentralized than bitcoin."

Well, learn one! If you really wanted to know of which is more decentralized, search for it, quit being lazy. Otherwise make an argument for whatever shitcoin you support, or STFU

ps. never stop learning

Wat.

So you think that when banks get robbed, like this exchange was, customers of the bank are the ones who lose their money because the bank "has ownership of their funds"?

Quote:

"Fractional reserve banking" now... Anything to evade the question.

Quote:

Uhhhhhh, yeah... I posted that totally obvious sarcasm because you can't possibly explain - as you are showing now - how bitcoin is the only decentralized cryptocurrency, because it isn't.

Quote:
If you really wanted to know of which is more decentralized, search for it
Why would I search for something moronically stupid that only you believe? I already explained to you that coins that are almost entirely bitcoin code are just as decentralized as bitcoin.

seems like the creation of that LEO token was to pay off the debt, fiat value, to their customers after that finex hack... so those recovered BTC's should be going back to them, and being on center stage, i bet they do get some back, maybe not all, we'll see

How about you understand and learn to live with how forums work after 21 years being on one? Starting a thread doesn't mean you own it or control what other people post in it.

yep the LEO token was to raise money to pay back the customers and they also created the Recovery Right Token (RRT) for any funds that may be recovered from the hack.

Yeah I guess we will see if they get any back, I don't think so, but you may be correct on them getting some back.

The coins were worth around 75mil when they were stolen I believe, and gained billions in value
