First of all good for you. That's awesome.

Second, I just don't get it. I see you have about 15 million views with your 5 most popular vids which is awesome. They are good videos too but I don't see what makes them stand out from the other 10 million walking videos. This is not a criticism, again your videos are great but I don't see the Youtube success formula really. Seems like part skill and part chance.

To make $26,000 in one month as a hobby is phenomenal. I'm jealous for sure, but really happy for your success. Thanks for sharing.

He probably posted them when such things were trending. Random plays big role .

Probably the thumbnail helps.

Then if you have the right title and description.

But also my understanding is more people comment and stay watching the vid, the more google pushes it to be seen.

Congrats. That is Very inspiring! How do you make the captions available in all that languages? Do you translate them yourself, or is it youtube that does it?

With your format (excellent video btw) it would definitely take more time but you can streamline that with outsourced help. I would do say three more immediately to test if you can recreate the success of the above video. If so then hire a Team and rock it man!!!

Yes there are many. But the thing is that this is a hobby and I love to film, edit, create the thumbnail, write the subtitles, translate them in 35 languages, etc. If I make this a business I will get bored. I have SeeMyBucks to make money and YouTube to have fun 😇

Hello. Thank you! Honestly, you never really know why a video become 'viral'. You can 'think' the reasons later but before, nobody knows. It's a mystery. Probably it's a mix of a title that you wanna click: 'The CUBA that THEY don't Want you to See' -- First, who is 'they'? Then, why they don't want you to see that Cuba? It's because it's pro communist or anti communist? etc. That kind of titles attract a big audience. Then the thumbnail, it shows a very old car, a woman in front like saying 'this is sad'. Then a person under the car that you don't know if it was an accident or someone trying to fix the car, etc. About 11% of people clicks that thumbnail (CTR) which it's very high for youtube. But again, nobody knows how YouTube works...

Hello. Thank you! I write them in English and Spanish. From English, I use google translator to convert them to Anglo languages like German, Swedish, etc. From Spanish, I translate it to romance languages like French, Italian, Portuguese. Then from English I also translate it to non proto-european languages like Chinese, etc. It takes a lot of work but the result it's pretty decent.

It's a gopro with a gimbal that I hold in my hand while I walk. Never had a problem filming people except in some arab countries but no big deal. In Cuba I was stopped many times by plainclothes police but they just had questions and were polite.

Subtitles takes a lot of time but this is what makes the difference with competition. I translate them to 35+ languages so gain a bigger audience. Also, I like to being able to express ideas and comment about a travel destination. Its weird when many millions read what you have to say. Social media it's a very democratic technology, everybody with an idea and cheap camera and reach an audience. My videos were watched by about 25 million people which it's weird. Remember that this is just a hobby, 90% of my time is to take care of SeeMyBucks.

Yes, the same logic applies to everything in life: playing sports, having a partner, running a company, etc. It take s a LOT of time and energy to run a YouTube channel. It's not that easy as it seems but to me, it's a hobby that I would do it for free..

Great tips and advice. Time for me to buy a gopro
And i see i can even film underwater. was looking for that.
What software is best/easiest for editing?

For the Walkin tours i see Sao Paulo is not there. I can give you a route there. I walked there in many (dangerous/fun) parts. I made a video in Foz do Iguaçu waterfalls, also great sport for walking.

Yeah but you are filming peoples face without permission and for commerce. It's an easy process for someone to submit a flag against your channel for this, Youtube will give you 24 hours to remove the video or blur the face. Once you get 4-5 of these flags you will see your traffic dry up and your new videos get no traction.

I've seen this countless times.

Your saving grace seems to be sticking to shit countries with bad internet hah, banking on them never seeing it.

Ah lol and what then every traveling documentary should do ? It is a possibility for a flag but doubt anyone would care. So far i seen flag in action only once - when money exchange scammers were exposed, they complained and author of video needed to re-upload with blurred faces.

In most countries, you can shoot videos in public places without asking permission. I would be very surprised to see some video being removed because of some random guy who was filmed on the street. Of course, if a Youtuber is filming someone at work, for example, he should/would ask first, I guess...

I was just looking at Hero11 black, probably buy it tomorrow.

"GoPro Hero 11 Black Has An 8:7 Image Sensor That Lets You Shoot Vertical And Horizontal Videos All At Once"

I made 2 videos with a simple JVC camcorder when started travelling 12 years ago. I see they have 700 views

It makes more sense to shoot in Horizontal then use that for youtube, then if you want footage for such as tick toc then crop it and edit that way.

I suggest you also order the media pack too as it makes a HUGE difference to the sound.

Opt for a min of a 256gb card. That should give you about 2 hours recording at 4k at 60 fps. You can record higher than 4k, but if it is just for youtube, I would suggest staying at 4k.

Opt too for the better battery, as it will give you about an hour recording.

Personally for ease, carry a battery pack and plug it in, if you use the battery up. Yes you can swap batteries, but this is a bit of a pain, and an external battery is just easer.

While the gopro is great at stabilising, it is bigger than you think. My gopro 7 is smaller and I think lighter than my new one. Now this means if you have it on such as a body belt, the thing can bounce.

I also find low light they struggle.

Mine is the model below 11. It may be 10 or 9, I forget, but basically it is the same. But I would stick to only recording Horizontal only, as I presume if you are shooting two lots of vid, it will make the camera work even harder. And they do get hot. So you may risk your gopro shutting down to cool if your shooting for a long time. Not to mention the card will fill faster.

Yes, but these are max 60 seconds.

They are ideal for taking up to a min from your main vid and make it as a short for a promo (use your app to do this).

I noticed too that it looks like they are adding a podcast option too. So I presume they will let you upload just sound files.

Great tip, was also looking at creator version. But the media pack (microphone+light) + gimbal looks better. The extra tools cost the same as the whole camera.

Maybe just in time to shoot some whales here also and practice my skills.

Hello. Sure thing. These are by far the best imho:

1) Varanasi, India
2) Shanghai, China
3) Cairo, Egypt
4) Havana, Cuba
5) Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
6) Plus: Hong Kong, Tokyo, Istanbul, Mexico City

I won't recommend these places to go with your family. It's mostly to explore and enjoy food, culture, things like that.

I have grown up poor and in Latin America so, almost any region in the world (except Africa) looks like Disney to me. But probably you don't have any problem in Cuba, India or China. Not sure about Egypt and about Mexico City: low profile and be carefour, there are 'no go' zones. Everything else is pretty safe and modern.

Just unpacking my Gopro Hero11 Creator Edition

Will be in some nice places to test next months. Vallarta, Yelapa, Mexico City, Guadalajara, Amsterdam, Cyprus, Brazil or Thailand and some more places.

I walked in Mexico City on that famous kilometers long Tepito market. Would be great video. Ecxcept they robed me at gunpoint at the last part. Only had 25 usd with me and no cards, jewelry or phone.

The cities in India must be great. I visited Varkala, Kochi and Goa. But than got stuck 9 months in Arambol cause of corona. So i must return to see some cities.

I have the media mod.

You can buy gopro light alternatives that are just as good (I have one, but not needed to use it yet). While you can plug a mic in, if you are walking around it may be a pain. While it will probably give you a better sound, it will make the camera more notable. I have the rode mic and with the dead cat on, you will have a huge thing that may also bounce in front of the lens. And while you could use it with no dead cat, you will probably get wind sound.

I find the mic built into the media mod fine with the cover. Even in wind it is fine.

BUT...

The problem with the media mod and having the camera attached to something, is you use the flappy things under the go pro. So if you want to swap the battery or take the sd card out. You have to unscrew the go pro from whatever it is attached to then pull it out of the media mod. It is a silly design, as it would have made more sense for thew media mod to have its own flappy things to connect to things such as a stand. It is such a silly design.

I have to say I love the gopro.

One thing though is I have a few 4k cheap gopro alternatives, and they do give great image. Not as good as a gopro, but for such as underwater they are ideal (and do not get as hot and much lighter and smaller).

Your all a bit daft.

Most of you are in the USA with stunning places to film.

When I was a kid one of my favorite things I have ever seen (I cannot find it on youtube) was a USA nature show. It was one of those 60's or 70's types, where the presenter would call animals critters. The best one that I loved (I hope to see it again before I die), as one following a cougar and her cubs. To this day I have no idea how they filmed it without being seen. But if I was in the USA that is all would film.

Then you have your bears. I would be filming them all happy and eating picknicks and having fun with the forest ranger.

Or those Buffalo.

You have all that, and more.

I think you will be pleased with it.

But if you edit the footage via the sd card, you are going to be saying some rude words when you realise to take it out you have to dismantle everything.

You probably will never use the light, but it is handy to have.

As I say the built in mic seems fine, but use the cover outside. I leave it on all the time. But be carful as it it possible to flick it off.

I have the front screen turned off so people do not notice when you are filming.

If you have not got the sc card yet, before you order check on gopro's site as not all sd cards work. Your best to stick to the ones they advise.

Also go on ebay and get yourself a box of accessories. For about £15 you get every thing you can imagine to connect your gopro to,m plus a nice case. They are just as good as the official gopro stuff.

If I was you, I would get an old camper van and go about doing vids with it.

You have a bit of a hippy/serf dude vibe.

People love retro and I bet you would get more views.

Even better if you find a female partner who goes about in a bikini.

I would be in front of the camera too.

Most people suck at being in front but you seem to have a nice personality. Just be a bit hippy and fun. If you can, joke about a bit.

If you plan on doing motobike footage you could add a mic to record yourself talking as you ride, or record it later and add it to the footage.
