![]() Meet America’s Most Inbred Family Who Bark At People And Only Communicate Through Grunts While Living In Squalor
Mark Laita found the Whitaker family in Odd (yes, that’s the town name), West Virginia in 2004. He returned to the town south of Charleston and prepared a 12-minute film about the family during a visit in 2020. Critics say Laita promotes every bad Appalachian stereotype. The family consists of two brothers and one sister whose parents are double first cousins, sharing both sets of grandparents. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkGiFpJC9LM&t=8s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WnzMPF6vFJk&t=272s |

only watched a couple of mins of the first vid, I found it really sad
it seemed a little familiar to me, not sure if it's been posted here before? can't think of anywhere else I would have seen it what struck me was how well cared for the dogs are, and how loyal they are to their people. that big dog growling a little when the interviewer got too close to Ray, but not attacking or anything, and the chihuahua standing guard on the lady's lap like "I got this, mom" it was nice to see that even in disadvantaged circumstances these folks love their pets. clearly well fed, loved and with such glossy coats...these are obviously kind, good people so yeah, sad but at least they have each other. I wish them well
