Do some domain extensions rank better than others?
Of course dot com is gold standard
What about dot live etc do they not rank aswell in Google? |

it makes a difference of course.
.com, .net etc are internationally acclaimed and will always have seo advantage. all those shitty 4+ letter extensions are "products" owned and sold by companies which are private businesses and google doesn't like to advertise for free. also all those shitty 4+ letter extensions have ~$1 register and ~$20-30 renewal fees which makes them convenient for spammers - register a bunch for 1 year and just let expire when not needed. |

All extensions seem to enjoy equal ranking consideration by big search engines, as the content of the destination is most significant.
From a web visitor's perspective, .COMs are often considered legacy classics that have been around for a while (higher trust factor). Some of the best .COMs have been taken, so alt extensions are used by newer sites. None of the above is always the case.  |
