She was married with 3 kids with western Canada's top rep for the restaurant supply industry, buddy was making 400k a year selling restaurant supplies to every chain and mom-n-pop restaurant From Calgary to Victoria on B.C.'s coast ( area of 7-9 million people or so )

His job had him drinking a lot, but for like 10 years he was fine and they made bank and were living large... then the wife, who had been married at like 19, decided she wanted to try some new dick, because the husband was always out of town. Well, he told her that if they were going to swing, they should do it together, so they did, and for 6 months they were big into the swinger lifestyle and every weekend they were partner swapping and going buck wild... babysitters were a huge expense as they would party as often as they could and the wife and him were banging everyone they could.

Well, around this time, she started falling in love with one of the guys they were swinging with, and the husband found out and was pissed, because it was just for the sex, right? Well, she asked him to move out of the house, and he did- right into an apartment with one of the women HE was swinging with! So 3 couples with kids right there were breaking up to be with the people they were swinging with, and about this time, the guy's alcoholism, which was under control for 10+ years while he rocketed his career to the top, totally went out of control because he wasn't staying sober to be a father... welllllll...

6 months go by and all 3 families totally fall apart, buddy gets a DUI so he can no longer drive himself on his route to the restaurants he needs to go visit, so he hires a full time driver, and not only does it cost him a ton of money, but then the driver is late, fucks up, crashes the car a couple times, he's late to meetings, isn't on the ball, and his income goes from like 400k-500k a year down to like 100k, and then now he can't afford to pay for the driver... so he drives himself around and gets his income back up temporarily... then he gets caught drinking and driving on a suspended license, has to go to court, the company that he was making 400k a year with, dumps his ass, he does 2 months in jail or maybe longer, I forget, then when buddy comes out of jail, he can't get a job for more than like 30-40k a year even when sober, but the ex-wife takes him back and they have like 3 months of joy where he is back in the house and with his 3 young kids who love their father so much. I had broken up with my ex at this point but we were still good friends, and I was following this saga.

Buddy comes home from work early one way to surprise his ex-wife with news that he got his old job back and was excited to make 200k+ again, but finds his ex-wife, who they were living together and romantic again, in bed with another guy, he loses it mentally and jumps in his car and goes and gets booze for the first time since jail, and immediately turns into a 26'er a day guy while working his old job. He struggles and survives and wants to be a father to his kids but his wife is fucking everyone she can from Tinder, PoF, all of the dating sites (this was right after Tinder and such first came out) and she fucked so many people locally that even his co-workers knew people his ex-wife was fucking, which humiliated him so much.

Then, on Christmas eve, they figured this out by the footprints outside of the window, he had walked to his ex-wife's house and stared at the Christmas tree through the front window of the huuuuuuge house he paid for, left presents on the front porch, and then drank enough alcohol that he wandered like 10 kilometers in the snow and was found dead the next morning in the loading bay of a Home Depot, having froze to death while drinking.

They were high school sweethearts and lost their virginity to each other and was the Canadian dream family... once they started swinging, it all went to hell from there.
