Since some readers are still up, try this:

Of which book is this the first sentence:

"...the main massing of the original stone, taken by itself would have displayed a certain ponderous architectural quality were it possible to have ignored the circumfusion of those dwellings that swarmed like an epidemic around its Outer Walls."

That was too quick

Did you actually know that or was it Google to the rescue?

That trilogy has been my favorite set of books since I read them at school. I had a tape of the movie running when I read the thread about Stephen Coonts, so I thought I would see if any other Peake fans were around,

Since that was too easy, let's see if anyone can come up with a link between the Gormenghast movie and "All in the family"?

I'm too slow, but I knew that one. They Gormenghast series that the BBC did of the first two books came out on DVD a couple of years ago, also. I usually don't like on-screen stuff made from books I've read (especially if I like the book) but they did a pretty good job with this one. A few years ago I used to have, "She seemed too much alive" in my sig line and everyone was always asking me about it.

Okay... let's see if anyone can beat the 2 minutes of the last answer to find a way to link "Gormenghast" and "Grapes of Wrath".

There's two ways I can think of and probably a lot more.

Hmmm... lots of "Top 100" lists. Most I guess will include "Grapes" but I haven't found one yet that includes Gormenghast.

However, by coincidence there is another book in the American Reviews Top 100 which (as a movie) was involved in one of my two answers.

Is this game still going on? I always think I'm the last to post and then when I look again there's a new question.

Well let's see if someone posts this before I can hit submit-

Steinbeck and Peake died in the same year, about a month apart.

I have more.
