I need a free and secure FTP program...?
I was fucking around on kazaa and wow all I get is worms and stuff I don't trust... You never know if that shit is sending your ftp login info to cracker central... once they are through your firewall and they have login info into your servers -- you're basically fucked -- so you better trust your FTP program...
I'm wondering what to use... I've used the original WS_FTP for forever but I don't have it anymore... Wondering if I should try to find the oldschool one again or upgrade to something new -- some features that would be nice... 1. keepalive 2. edit textfiles on the server 3. clean interface -- so many freeware FTP programs are ugly 4. ssh? |

FTP is not secure, your password goes out in plain text and all the assholes at the adjacent server farms will be posting it on GFY tomorrow.
I never use FTP into my own servers, although I will happily use it to retrieve a file from somebody else. Instead, use WinScp which rides on top of SSH and does the same thing - but securely and free of course. |
