Why are some songs louder than others?

Y'know when you play MP3s and some songs are just louder (or quieter) than others?

Whats up with that?

Yeah, I figure it's something in the recording process in the studio, because I've noticed that some CDs are like that too. You'll be playing one and then pop in another and it will be way louder (or quieter) than the other.

Hmm I don't seem to have that problem since iTunes equalizes every song to be at the same level of volume automatically.

Could be a number of things, the ripper, the way it was recorder, etc, etc. Just use some audio software and normalize it, search google for normalizer. That will level off the tracks, set it to do it during the night or day, whenever you're away from the computer!
