The first thing that comes to mind is his role in National Lampoons Vacation as the security guard at Wally World.

He was also in Splash with Tom Hanks wasn't he?

Old movies...but classics

Funniest. Movie. Ever.

I also like Uncle Buck, Who's Harry Crumb, Stripes, Blues Brothers and The Great Outdoors. Even Canadian Bacon was decent if you can get over the total bizzareness of the movie.

He also did a few voice characters in the movie "Heavy Metal", a movie I've loved since it's release in '81.

Like all the people who got their start on SNL or SCTV their best work was done on TV. Candy had hundreds of great characters - my favorite was always Mayor Tommy Shanks of Melonville.

John Candy had the ability to make a shitty movie good.

The entertainment industry suffered a great loss March 4th 1994

John Candy was the god of lighthearted humour

If you take a closer look at most his films they usually "should" suck, but some how John Candy pulled it off time and time again.
