Google Adword Abuse

Does anyone know about Google's protection against
hitbotters killing adword budgets?

Is there any?

There's supposed to be...... the safest thing to do is to set your 'daily maximum' to a realistic figure to stop yourself from being charged if some idiot starts hitbotting

I saw an article somewhere that said google had protection against that. The hitbot would have to come from a different IP to be counted.

I got nailed $2000 by a damn hitbotter who tried to, and succeeded in toppling me from the particular keywords they targeted.

I didn't check for a few days and BAM ... I got hit. Google just told me to set my maximum daily spend to something I could manage.

you gotta stay on top of it. If ur the vindictive type then hire someone to hitbot their campaigns once they take your spot. You cant stop a hitbot if done correctly.

What kinda bullshit fix is that? You're paying for their service, so hey should be making sure it can't be fucked with.

exactly.. you set up several campagnes for the same 'product'
all with a $100 per day max for example but that doesnt work..

A. Google doesnt like that
B. 10 campagnes for the same ad simple doesnt work.

So im stuck to one large daily budget for 1 campagne.

to be 100% honest I am not gonna spent 10k in my time chasing a $2000 refund. I now only set up campaigns on low density keywords and have cut my spending to 1/5 of what it was.

I haven't got the time to spend policing my campaigns like a nazi. I know there are people with better tech abilities than me who can cost me a shit load of $ , and I cant compete with that. I know google has refunded people who have proven they have been hitbotted, but I don't know how to do that.

There is money to be made with adwords, but be careful

I agree with you mate, you shouldn't have to. Google should be making their service hitbot secure. Oh well, if you've got your spending down and it's still converting, that's cool.

Yeah well I still do fairly ok. I honestly don't believe there is a way to make yourself 100% hitbot secure without studying stats... and google can't exactly look at our stats/signups trends.

I know for a fact that you can hitbot anyone from different ip's etc over 1000 times a day from one machine and its impossible to detect unless you read sale trends. Imagine what a battery of machines or a more powerful pc can do.

No ... what they do is 'refresh' the advert and only hit it about 2-5% of the time so you only see a marginal increase in the ctr ... hence the limitation of only being able to cost you 1000 or so clicks a day from a single machine.

Mitch, near all ppc engines have such protection, but nothing is unbeatable. Some of them are victims of their SE partners more than often, but since they have to provide quantity they do not kick them. Sprinks/about for example has some of the most horrible partners, they hitbot like no tommorow. Everytime i mailed them complaining they refunded me for the clicks, but this is not the way you do business with someone. No wonder they have so few advertisers.
