Because it's a good way to learn and not spend money. Why run out and spend $$$ when you only have a vague idea of what the hell you are doing and someone is offering the service for free? Frankly, I think a newb who runs out and grabs a 100 gig hosting package before he has a clue is the idiot.
 I still use smutserver for Hun subs. Fuck if I'm payng that bandwidth.
