Is it rude to send wishlists to your family and friends?

I hate doing that, even when family asks me to do it. I was raised to think that if someone wanted to give me something, they would, otherwise it was rude to ask for it.

*sigh*

Bah humbug.

Yes, I had some idiot send me a card for his wedding saying in a nice little rhyme 'we dont want your shitty gifts, just give us money'. I gave them a stolen toaster.

A "Wish list" is good to give to anyone who is planning to give you a present, and has know idea what to buy.

I personally like to make sure that a gift I give is going to be something the recipient wants.

I give a wish list to my mother only... she distributes it among the family (not that any of them buy me anything anymore) They usually say, we want to get something you do want and not something you don't want. Well up to a few years ago, I was just a teenager, so I don't really do that anymore. There's a difference between asking for elaborate gifts and asking for things in the same price range you usually get. If your wish list consists of a beach house, Mercedes and a refridgerator... it's kind of tacky.

Ask them for their wish lists as well, it's easier to buy for people when you know what they want. It's only in poor taste to ask people for expensive gifts... especially when they don't have the money etc or you don't even deserve them.

I just can't help it. I think it's really rude to actually make a list and send it to people. It's entirely too pretentious.

On the other hand, if we don't do this, my husband's grandparents (the three remaining from both sides...two grammas and a grandpa) come up with the strangest shit possible. One grandmother gave him earring that light up...my husband doesn't have pierced ears.

They have asked (in the case of his step-mother DEMANDED) for wishlists. I oughta send 'em one with lingerie and cookie cutters. Make 'em wonder.

It's up to you. Either send wishlists or learn to be happy with socks and subscriptions to Reader's Digest.

Yea I second that. I personally dont care if i get a single fucking thing from anyone, i dont expect anyone to send me gifts. If you go about expecting something all the time youll be upset when you dont get something. Its better off getting use to believing you wont get anything as this way when you do youll crap your pants with joy!

Wishlists are exceptionally rude.

Therefore, you should only send them to people you don't really like who have given extremely useless and weird presents for at least 7 consecutive years.

If the people don't know you well enough to know what you might want/need - then why are they buying you a present?

Will we see some dumbass texan sue someone for not giving them what they asked for on their wishlist next??

fucking world.

It doesn't even matter what the gift is, if you've given it to the person for a real reason, like you WANTED to because you LIKE them.

fucking world.
